  • Stillwater Mining: Deteriorating PGM Market Is Now In Plain Sight [View article]
    Ab,

Thank you for your opinion, It is appreciated and you sound honest.

I believe SWC is a good investment and the only palladium/platinum mine in a safe location. Yes, it is not perfect and probably some of the people who are involved with the mines are corrupt in some way. Do not know really about that...

I have started to accumulate SWC and will keep buying on its way down, 6 will be fine with me, because I know that the stock will reverse trend, when platinum/palladium will turn North again. It is not a matter of if but a matter of when. I am patient... And made already some impressive profit with this stock. I wish you to profit as well.

    Best regards

    Valdr,

    Thank you for your post...

Hard to predict anything regarding oil prices... We are very low now in the 40's and we may go lower of course. However, when production will start to go down a support will be found. I do not believe we will trade lower from here and it is already very damaging. All I can see is that time will tell

    Good comment as always...

"it's subsequent rise will be equally surprising."

    I agree 100% on that.

    Brasket,

Hard to say... However, assuming a timid recovery in oil prices, SDRL may be close to the bottom now.

  • Transocean A Hold Despite Dividend Suspension And $2 Billion New Impairment Charge [View article]
    Hello TW,

Thank you... I agree. The problem is still oil price. We need more visibility to conclude anything of a value. I have been accumulating slowly all my long OSDs until now and will if it goes lower?
I hope we are now at support so...

    Lee99,

    Thank you very much,

The OSD market is really struggling right now, however, SDRL may be an opportunity here. The problem is the oil price... Not much visibility so far.

    Mark,

Oil prices is the key and it is almost impossible to predict the trend... One thing for sure, oil price have been some sort of low in the 30's. It is unsustainable long term and maintained artificially as I have explained. The question is who is going to give up first and when.
Offshore drilling (deepwater) will probably be the first to recover because the projects are long-term and important for the reserves.

    Mark,

Vulnerable is the word, you are right... Earnings will be on the down side for a while, however, I do not think RIG and few other top-tiers OSD will go down the drain unless no recovery of course.
The small OSD will be more vulnerable in my opinion to some sort of consolidation. The only question is how low RIG will go before the cycle will finally end. If you have a long perspective like I do, it doesn't really matter and I will buy and accumulate at any weakness.
If you follow RIG on its way down you will be better positioned to profit when the stock will improve... You lose impatience which makes you sell way too fast and your entire position by fear.

This is another bear cycle nothing more nothing less...

    Ab,

Platinum is really depressed right now. I wish you luck for the $6 and will join you in buying if it happens? The question is why $6 and not $5 or $7? How do you base such a valuation from?

    Bmw,

You are very right... Look at what happened few days ago. You have to stick with a long strategy that will protect you against emotional illogical decisions.
It is a well known fact, that most of the traders buy at the high and sell at the low. Few traders that I know have made a dime... Because they lack of perspective.

To be able to profit you have to behave! and refrain from emotion. RIG is a survivor and will be here at the next leg up, at least I believe so... Use the down sides to buy cheap and add to your position, as you said so well.

    Mark,

Look at the chart and you will see that over a period of 10 years you could have made a fortune with a minimum of trades spread strategically. I did!

Commenting on a stock or an industry that is experiencing the worst downturn in history is not really logical. Just look at your investment and your need.
If you trade the market and have a high position in RIG, it means you have lost your bet... However, as an investor with a long perspective this down side is an opportunity. As always, time will tell...

    Best regards,
