Managing partner of Quintessential Capital Management, an investment fund, and Zanshin Capital, an asset management company both focusing on long-only, absolute return, equity investments with a value approach. I have started investing from an early age, but only in 2005 did I discover the wisdom and effectiveness of value investing. After reading every book I found on the subject, I studied for a short, but extremely profitable period, under the guidance of Prof. Bruce Greenwald of Colombia University, who specializes in value investing. The core positions in my portfolio are classic Buffett-style franchises acquired at a discount and kept indefinitely. The idea is acquiring a company in a slow-changing industry with a protective moat and letting it compound for years. Occasionally, I go for "cigar butt"-style investments, where a mediocre company is acquired at a steep discount. But, in general, I prefer the former type. I focus on US stocks but do keep my eyes open for global opportunities as well.
I specialize in rooting out corporate fraud and financial shenanigans in small and micro cap stocks. I am here to bring true institutional quality research on both longs and shorts to the seekingalpha community. If you have any particular company or stock you believe is committing fraud or doing anything illegal and would like to share this information with us we can assure your identity will always be kept 100% anonymous. We will respect your privacy without question and treat your sensitive information with the proper respect.

Among others, the Associated Press, Great Plains Journalism Awards, The Gerald Loeb Awards and the Society of Professional Journalists have recognized Sonya’s investigative, feature, health, news and business stories. A fearless investigative reporter, Sonya loves nothing better than calling out the shysters and bumblers who quietly work to separate investors from their hard-earned money.

Hi all !
After a long period of just reading the articles on Seeking Alpha, I decided to share some thoughts and ideas about the market and stocks.
I am a CPA and have held a CFO position in several companies over the years.
One of my hobbies is stock analysis:
I will always read thoroughly the financial statements, notes, letters to shareholders and any other stuff that can help me decide what the company is worth.
I prefer boring stocks where you can understand the company's value fairly easily than dream-high-flying stocks where the financial statements have nothing to do with their valuation.
My portfolio usually includes just stocks and bonds, rarely options and only for hedging.
I hope you find my articles interesting and helpful, I will try to reply to all comments.
My recommendations reflect how I feel about the stocks at the time of writing. Before you follow them I urge you to perform your own due-diligence on any stock.
You should dare to succeed!
