  • 10 High Dividend Stocks With Inflation Protection [View article]
Don't see how BP is a high dividend yield stock with inflation protection. Even if BP resumes dividends, we have no idea what amount it might be.

  • Texas Instruments: Tablet Potential, Dividends, And Share Buybacks [View article]
Thanks for the article. I think Texas Instruments is a great buy under $30. There is downside possible at current price of $35 but if one gets it around $27-28 then it is a great purchase for the next 3-5 years.

  • New York Community Bank: Predicting a New S&P 500 Stock (With an Already Appealing Dividend) [View article]
Great article. I am long HCBK and that is why noticed this article. I will look at NYB in greater detail. I like the fact that they have access to cheaper funds and that they acquired distressed/failed banks. Thanks again.

  • The Short Case for Netflix: Disconnect Between Business and Valuation [View article]
Thanks for your excellent analysis and discussion.

Have you considered the possibility that someone may want to acquire them real bad and pay a huge premium? Or the possibility that they may negotiate the content acquisition costs further down due to their critical mass?

  • Top 14 Dividend Champions: Sweet Spot for Total Return (Part 1) [View article]
No, I had no idea about any such strategy. I will google it a bit more. I am a boring kind of investor - buy stocks that I think are undervalued and then hold them for sometime - weeks to years. In all cases, I sell if I think they have gone up too quickly or if I want to book some losses for taxes. I will look at other strategies but do fear that I may not have enough time for managing this.

  • The Short Case for Netflix: Disconnect Between Business and Valuation [View article]
People say that there is no competition to Netflix. It is a game changer. The revenue and bottom can continue to increase when they go to Europe and so forth. Its possible. But I see that their current P/E is 70. That appears way too high for a $10 billion company that may grow earnings only 25-30% over the next 3 years.

    Disclosure: Short NFLX.

Thanks poortorich for the ideas - I will watch HLF, TUP and NUS. I too had NFLX. Bought at approx $50 but sold at $80 when I thought that it got too rich. No regrets though :-)

Do you have anything you are buying these days hoping for growth (potential multibagger)? Dividend is no constraint. Thanks.

  • Too Much Growth Priced Into Under Armour? [View article]
Agreed that UA is a great company and will continue to do well in the retail market place. Its products have great appeal to the youth. However, I agree with the author that the stock price itself is richly valued. The current price is $60 and there is about $4 cash per share. That leaves $56 and an EPS of $1.34. The P/E of 42 is high for a company expected to grow at 15-25% over the next 3 years. Especially for a retail company with high value products.

A positive factor though is that they have no debt but then their inventories are rising very fast. That could really bring down the stock.

I like YUM, DRI and EAT in this segment. YUM for their international exposure and DRI/EAT because they have been increasing dividends steadily. MCD is great as well but quite big so chances of price appreciation may be lesser.
