  • REITs: Why The Dividends Are A Mirage [View article]
Dividends paid = loss in capital. There is no free lunch, otherwise, what a concept! Every company should just dilute the piss out of its shareholders then take that same money and pay dividends with it.

  • U.S. Recession Probability Is Only 1/5 Of 1% [View article]
"This year’s first-quarter US GDP is expected to increase 1.9%, based on the The Capital Spectator’s average econometric nowcast."

If you think Q4 2012 was an accurate barometer, I'll have a hit of what you're smoking.

"For the entire year of 2013, economists expect a 2.4% rise in GDP while most economists surveys feel there's a better chance of a positive surprise with that number than a negative surprise"

"We're definitely in a better place now than at this time last year," said Arun Raha of Eaton Corp who was the most accurate individual forecaster for 2012, achieving a near-perfect score under the Journal's methodology, which was developed by economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

The OTC fish oil is easy to "sort" through. I'll repeat it for you again: anybody who claims you need to pop OTC fish oil "like M&Ms" to get the same EPA content like you claim is full of it.

Aspirin has nothing to do with Vascepa's snake oil.

LOL, let me know when you have a piece of charcoal that's 70% diamond and you can sell it to me for the price of charcoal.

Better yet, the fact that EPA-only pills are available already OTC makes the AMRN snake oil a joke.

No doubt the AMRN cult will now storm the castle.

How dare you question the strength of fish oil with the same ingredients available at your local 7-11

After all, they did a whole 12 week study that showed it helped something versus a sugar pill.

GAAP accounting requires interest expense to be booked immediately, regardless of when paid.

I can read just fine. Better question is can AMRN survive?

I say no. See the latest script info? That "reads" loud and clear.

    Vascepa scripts:

    week 1: 67
    week 2: 252
    week 3: 445
    week 4: 560

    It's toast.

Wrong. 1.5 pills. 10.7 cents per pill in the picture. I rounded up to 11 cents. Nowhere near a buck (the original version said a buck and it has been corrected)

Both the American Heart Association and the USDA Dietary Guidelines recommend DHA for good cardiovascular health. And the National Institute of Health (NIH) recommends a minimum daily intake of 220 mg of DHA for healthy adults.

No wonder so few people are falling for the marketing.

Anybody already taking Lovaza will have been made aware of the risks. Did you know that most of that LDL "raise" was due to most of the population having low LDL to begin with, and the "raise" was mostly due to it rising to more normal levels?

Notice AMRN never claims that DHA raises LDL to unhealthy levels.

  • Bet Big On This Casino's Secret Weapon [View article]
Aren't the overwhelming majority of casino revenues and profits from the slot machines, which does NOT provide much interaction with anybody? Would perhaps in-room game appeal to this larger, majority crowd? Futthermore perhaps there could be a social media aspect that evolves from this that allow people between rooms to "play with each other"

I agree that it sounds counter-intuitive to travel then stay in your room the whole time, but I'll bet they said the same thing about in-room food service at one point too. I could also see, like in-room service, the impluse fact will lead to higher per guest revenue. Much harder to "walk away from the table" when the table is in your bedroom.

    You misunderstood everything.

    1. AMRN was not tested for mortality against placebo or anythign else.
    2. Other fish oils were tested against mortality and came up empty.

Neither AMRN's snake oil nor OTC fish oil pills have shown "great results" over the long term. AMRN's Phase III trial was a 12 week trial. Cut me a break.

I make no conclusions about the long-term benefits of Vascepa and neither does the FDA. That's the problem. And it's a big problem.

AMRN won't be the first or the last company to fail miserably despite having an FDA approval.

This market cap is so overvalued it's scary.
