This is another case of management taking care of management at the expense of shareholders.

Very interesting, robmx. If only people could take a look at the product before dismissing it.

I guess you were buying Apple at $700.

It would be great to see some more support from the operators in the US. This could come once they see some momentum, which could come from the new models. The sold-out story is a trick they have used a few too many times. I would not pay attention to it.

    Hi Patt2374,
I answered your questions in the wrong place. Here it is:
I think you identified their major weaknesses indeed. Marketing especially has been surprisingly underwhelming. I remember the old days when Nokia was essentially a master marketing company. As far as the manufacturing issues, it has greatly been improved. I have not seen reports of major problems recently. It seems that the problems last year were related to their tight management of cash outflows.

Thank you, Abu. I always read your articles with great interest. 12 million would mean a major revaluation of the stock!

Neither the iPhone nor the latest Galaxy were very exciting products.
The stock prices of these stocks are reflecting those facts.

The fact that they can afford to buy NSN is a strong indication of how they feel about their cash flow after extraordinary (restructuring) costs. One year ago, the cash burn story was prominent among analysts. I think we have moved beyond that now. Hence the title of my article. Nokia has entered a new phase in their comeback.

There is definitely room for Nokia to grow its high end product sales, but it will be due to market share gains (from very low levels). The overall high end market is saturated. All the growth is in the quality phones at lower prices (especially in emerging markets).

Thank you. There are still a lot of bears out there. It will take a lot for them to admit they were wrong.

This is a good analysis, but to go from sales of 6.6 million smart devices in Q4, 2012 to 127 million (i.e. more than 30 million per quarter) in 2014 seems a bit optimistic. I think the stock will go through roof if they achieve 8 to 10 million in Q1, 2013.
