  • Combining Water With Farming Equates To Soaring Valuations [View article]
Stocks don't trade based on past or present earnings, they trade on future potential earnings, which investors certainly think these companies will have given the growing demand for water.

  • Salesforce.com - Investors Are Disappointed With Yet Another Expensive Dilutive Acquisition [View article]
They can't stop acquiring since revenue growth is the only thing still supporting their ridiculous valuation, and they don't seem to be able to generate it organically.

It really is a Ponzi scheme that requires them to keep bringing in new money (acquire more revenue) and/or report ficticious gains (non-GAAP "earnings") so no one withdraws any money.

That's the thing I don't understand, if salesforce really already has all the best products and supposedly is the first, best, and everything in their area of expertise (whatever that is), why do they need to make all these acquisitions?

Wow, since they're paying cash and receiving pretty much nothing to put on their balance sheet in return except goodwill, isn't their book value going to be completely, maybe even over 100%, composed of goodwill? Has any other company ever "achieved" this?

  • salesforce.com's CEO Presents at ExactTarget Acquisition Conference (Transcript) [View article]
Why don't they buy a profitable company so they can use their huge tax loss carryforward? Oh, right, that's not how their Ponzi scheme...ahem, sorry, meant to say their business model, works:

    1. Issue overvalued stock to buy other overvalued companies.
    2. Pay employees in overvalued stock and don't call it an expense.
    3. Show artificial revenue growth and fake non-GAAP "profits" to issue more overvalued stock.
    4. Repeat until the whole thing collapses.

  • Dr. Doom Has Gold Going Below $1,000: Why His Thesis Is Spot On [View article]
Isn't Marc Faber the real Dr. Doom? And I just saw him on bubblevision today basically say that Roubini is an idiot who told everyone to get out in 2009. Anyway, better listen to both of them because together they've predicted 37 of the last 4 crashes...

  • Are Gold ETFs Now Being Seen In A New Light? [View article]
Who are these mysterious MMs? Firms like JP Morgan, who insisted that they were just "hedging" for clients when really they had a massive short position in silver? In that case, the MM should stand for Market Manipulators.

  • Vista Gold: An Undervalued Takeover Target With Impressive Gold Reserves [View article]
Oh, here it is, nice table showing NPV for different gold and Aussie dollar prices:

    http://bit.ly/11Cmkga

Basically seems like a $150M increase in NPV for each 10 cents the Aussie dollar weakens.

I meant more along the lines of the weakening currency making the Mt. Todd development and eventual labor costs more affordable, making the project more cost effective long term.

Do you happen to know what currency assumptions they used in their latest feasibility study? I'm going through the transcript and can't find any specifics:

  • Silver Wheaton Well Positioned Despite Decline In Gold And Silver Prices [View article]
Obviously would have been better if they had just waited a little bit before signing the contract with VALE, but I guess even the foremost commodities streaming experts can't predict the short term price of gold or silver.

I calculated the price they'd pay to VALE per ounce of gold at around $1200 based on current projections, so won't this bring their margins way down compared to their traditional model of buying silver for total cash costs of under $10/ounce?

Maybe they're counting on increased production or hopefully they can renegotiate the contracts for a larger percentage of gold production or do other opportunistic deals with the rest of their line of credit while commodity prices are low.

Do you like CLF as well since that looks even cheaper, or do you prefer the diversification of VALE?

Look at cash flow instead, depreciation alone is enough to cover the dividend twice over.

  • Tesla Motors' Full Analysis, Its Only Mistake, Outlook And Elon Musk [View article]
Has anyone noticed the parallels between TSLA's development of the supercharger network with AMZN's development of AWS as initially something the company used themselves but which eventually can be used to generate revenue from competitors?

Do you think the potential benefits to both to their business models are currently under or overvalued in each of their stock prices?

Still a ways to go before the solar business starts disrupting anything meaningfully, especially considering that Waste Management generates more alternative energy from landfills than the entire US solar industry.

It will likely take a multi-pronged approach of solar, wind, nat gas, and most importantly, nuclear, to completely wean ourselves off oil.

Yeah, the float in TSLA is still way too small, plus it's the kind of all or nothing company that is suicidal to short long term, since it could easily become (or at least be perceived as about to become) a major car company that would warrant a much higher market cap.

Therefore, it would seem like the time to short would only be if they did a big secondary right after everyone assumes they'll be the only major electric car company but before everyone realizes they'll almost certainly have some competition.
