  • Apple: Android Photography Is About To Take A Huge Quality Jump [View article]
As someone who has switched back and forth between android and ios devices, I completely agree that Apple has significant execution risk to maintain their camera lead. Camera2 api is already out, but only 3% of android users have access to it. Intel Realsense shows an example of what is coming with multi-sensor smartphone cameras. Which smartphone will have the best camera in 5 years? I am not sure.

Maybe... Time will tell. Die shrinks / microarchitecture changes each require much different investment and produce different chip improvements. I expect some type of cycle to develop.

  • Does Angie's List Have A Credible Evolution Plan? [View article]
Angie's List needs to go free for the consumer, but its in conflict with their messaging and they can't afford to. Today membership is only $10/year, which after the 40% discount they offer as well as the 20% paypal discount comes to $4/year. How much lower can it go?

  • Groupon Is A Buy Going Into Earnings [View article]
The turn around story for Groupon is very easy. Just keeping SG&A expenses down will be enough. They have plenty of cash/time for this to play out. Long GRPN and will sell more puts going into earnings.

  • Whole Foods, Wal-Mart And The Coming Commoditization Of Organic Grocers [View article]
Speaking of Harris Teeter... Look out for higher end grocery stores also lowering prices. There is not much overlap between Walmart and Whole Foods, but my local higher end grocery store (Harris Teeter) also recently lowered their prices on organic products. In my neighborhood most people shop at either Harris Teeter, Trader Joes, or Whole Foods.
