  • Q&A Relating To The Design Of InsiderInsights Daily Round Up Articles.

I'm posting an Instablog containing a QA message I just responded to in our 4/14/15 Daily Round Up article, since it may be of use to y'all.

I always look at your regular articles with a lot of interest and I am thankful for them. I was wondering if you could add one more column showing the price per share that the insider transaction occurred at?

Thanks for kind words and good suggestion. Another reader also requested that we include the column indicating the "% Change in Ownership" each trade represents. Both suggestions are spot on in terms of identifying added information that helps determine just how significant an insider's trade is. Even more useful would be if we could add our proprietary "Filer Statistics" column to each record.

Alas, we are quite constrained with the width of the tables we can present in our Daily Round Up articles. As it is, we have to constantly trim down company and insider names to make sure each record doesn't take up 2-3 row heights.

There are also two other reasons besides practicality why adding more columns is arguably not critical for these articles to be actionable. The primary one is that our InsiderBot automated rating program already takes into account all the information suggested--and much more--to determine the significance of each transaction--and we clearly tell you in the article which transactions are significant, and which are not.

The second reason is that all the information you could ever want to help your own research into each transaction is just a click away. The "Company Names" in the table part of the articles are hyperlinked to a Free Insider Profile on our site that has the information you requested--and all the other info as well.

So if you don't want to take our InsiderBot's word for it, this is a very efficient way to dig deeper--without the tables being unmanageable in the articles themselves. That's my 2 cents, and why the articles are designed the way they are--with much back and forth with SA editors along the way as well.

Let me know if you agree!

  • InsiderInsights Really Needs Your Input!

Thanks to the handful of our SA followers who have gotten back to us since we instablogged on Oct. 7 asking the important strategic question:

Should give away more free stuff and move away from a subscription model to an ad-driven one?

But we need to hear from more of you by this Friday October 17th!!

We have over 900 followers on SA, yet only 41 official votes thus far for more free stuff--plus nearly as many emails sent to us directly from followers who don't have Facebook accounts. (Yes, annoyingly, Chase is using Facebook as a way to confirm votes are valid.)

This is not a sales pitch or a way to gather leads. It's an honest survey, and we want to know your opinion. We are using this Chase Bank Grant form to act as our voting tally--because qualifying for the grant could help us fund the transition from our present subscription model. So why not?

But while the grant is unnecessary to this decision process, your opinion is absolutely needed!

So if you don't feel comfortable voting here, just send us an email at and say "Yes to more free stuff" in the subject. For that matter, you can also relay the same in the comment section of this instablog. It's all the same to us. But we need to see more interest and less apathy to make a larger commitment to SA.

Also feel free to specify what sort of insider screens, tables, commentary, and educational materials you would most like to see from us. We literally wrote the book on using insider data in the investment process, and are already the #1 provider of insider stuff on SA. But we know we can do more for you--both via our website and through more SA columns.

But you have to let us know!

Thanks in advance, and we look forward to hearing from you by this Friday!
