Interactive Buyside gives hedge fund analysts a platform to share their investment research & analysis on stocks, in order to help them grow their assets. We then share this proprietary research to our growing community of individual investors. For free. We built Interactive Buyside with a dual mandate: (1) To help hedge funds find alternative means to market their funds, gain media attention, and attract capital to grow. (2) To give the millions and millions of retail investors fundamental and professionally-written stock research for the first time ever. Our goal is to democratize the information flow of investment research and empower the retail investor with all the tools that big financial institutions have historically been privy to. We do this all at no cost for our analysts or investors.
We have over 60 years of investment analysis experience. We have published investment research from the perspective of the buy side and the sell side. Our work has been used by institutions managing over $1 trillion in aggregate. We have published reports from both the long and short perspective and have worked with the largest short selling mutual fund in the world. We are long term value investors. It is our belief that, contrary to popular opinion, most individual investors and patient professional investors have the best opportunity since the beginning of our investment career to beat institutional and mutual fund managers in terms of risk adjusted performance. The "Information Arbitrage" advantage institutional investors have had is mostly eliminated, while the individual investor still can maintain an edge with "Time Arbitrage". Our goal is to provide institutional quality buy side articles that educate and stimulate investors in the hope of improving their returns. We also are willing to mentor young analysis who wish to improve their analytical skills.

To succeed in investment activities, you should master three skills: research and valuation, risk management, and a different thinking approach. While many succeed in the first two areas, a third one is much more complicated. It is not so easy to think differently. This book will help you improve your investment decision making and will offer you a range of thinking approaches which you can implement to achieve your investment objectives. Each chapter is supplemented with case studies of actual investment situations that illustrate the discussed concepts.
"I gave myself to know madness and folly. But this too I perceived is vexation of spirit. For, in much wisdom lies much grief; and he who increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow."
"I quote others the better to express myself!"

Private investor focused on value and GARP. Began investing in mutual funds just a month or so before Black Monday in 1987! I survived that and stayed the course. Been investing now in individual stocks for 16 years. I find that capital markets are a continual learning opportunity, particularly when one is getting his or her ass kicked! SA is a tremendous vehicle for exchanging ideas in a thoughtful and respectful manner.
Alan Brochstein, CFA, was the first investment professional to devote himself to sharing his observations about the cannabis industry from an investor's perspective publicly. He runs 420 Investor, a subscription-based due diligence platform for investors interested in the publicly-traded cannabis stocks and is also the founder of New Cannabis Ventures, a content aggregation site focused on investors and entrepreneurs in the cannabis industry.
Alan has worked in the securities industry since 1986, primarily with the responsibility for managing investments in institutional environments until he founded AB Analytical Services in 2007 in order to provide independent research and consulting to registered investment advisors. In addition to advising several different hedge funds and investment managers, including Friedberg Investment Management, where he participated as a member of its investment management committee, Alan was also a senior analyst for the independent research firm Management CV. In 2008, he began providing a first-of-its-kind subscription-based service for individual investors, Invest By Model, which offered two different portfolios that investors could replicate in their own accounts for $20 per month. Alan also offered The Analytical Trader at Marketfy, where he used fundamental and technical analysis in a disciplined process to offer specific trade ideas geared towards swing traders.
Alan launched www.420Investor.com in late 2013 as the premier source of information for "Green Rush" investors seeking to capitalize on the proliferation of legalized medical and recreational cannabis. In March 2014, Alan, who is a member of the National Cannabis Industry Association, began to focus solely on the cannabis sector. He launched www.NewCannabisVentures.com in late 2015.
