With how far $MSFT has tanked and remembering $TSLA earlier this week, I think there's credence to a massive market crash soon.

    • TruffelPig: Sure.....what a nonsense. TSLA was overheated and still is - it recovered nearly all the losses from the GS downgrade.

    • Energysystems: And $MSFT had an incredible run up over the past 3 months, from under 28 to over 36. That theory is a wacky one to say the least.

    • Joseph P. Porter: Everyone has been predicting a correction, and I think we are at the tail end of it. I've tracked Dow & S&P since Jan, and since min-May

    • Joseph P. Porter: the market has been in down mode. (mid-May, that is) The joy ride may be over, but I don't see a crash in the numbers.

    • gabi1: being at the tail of it means what?

    • Joseph P. Porter: Ask me in six months - unlike Mintzmyer, my crystal ball only looks into the past.

    • supersaverguy: I don't think you can look at $MSFT a has-been for over a decade in technology and make a blanket case of the market as a whole...

    • J Mintzmyer: It's a very jittery market. A blue chip falling 11%+ from results is almost unprecedented (correct if wrong). Watch this week of earnings.

    • J Mintzmyer: $MSFT results weren't that bad- optimism was just baked to the max. I'm fully in the market, w 50% hedge oct $1640p and about -70% shorts.

    • J Mintzmyer: Been fully invested, but cautious about valuation since Dec. I don't try to time, just put hedge in case. $AMZN and $LNKD have been brutal.

    • Joseph P. Porter: As jittery as the market has been (for about 2 months, now), I don't see an environment where everything falls apart. I think you are right
      7/20/13
    • Joseph P. Porter: that there is optimism baked in some of the current figures (look at $HPQ), but a correction/shake down takes care of that.

    • J Mintzmyer: I think the entire market could be due for a 20-30% correction, but I tend to have a natural (behavioral?) bear bias.

    • J Mintzmyer: Economic data is mediocre at best and yet the market is functioning like we have made a full recovery and are going to grow at decent rates.

    • Joseph P. Porter: Prior to May 15, I'd agree with you, but stocks I've been tracking have been trending flat to down for the most part. I don't know that
      7/20/13
    • Joseph P. Porter: there is now the unbridled optimism now that there was in, say, March or April. Q3 is likely to be tough, but after that I have a feeling
      7/20/13
    • Joseph P. Porter: that - although the market won't be as bullish as before, things will start picking up a bit. Just a guess - maybe too optimistic?
