Don't beat yourself up. This would have been hard to exit at the top price that day due to the fact that trading was halted, unless you already had sell order in that could have been matched up to the upside and short-lived buying spike. Even at that there is still no guarantee you could have exited at top dollar. It all depends on the order flow and where your order lined up. This makes for the case of setting up a trading rule for oneself that sets a profit target based on a set and reasonable percentage gain rather than attempting to call a top. Good luck going forward!

Please re-read the last paragraph of my article....basically what happens in the market reaction of such stocks has more to do with the short term speculative behavior of "investors" or "speculators" and market psychology rather than the logical facts and fundamentals of the company, the drug, and its future market prospects. Had the drug been rejected, the stock would have most likely plunged in a matter of seconds back to the $5-7 range. The next move up will happen either when another analyst or two moves their target upwards, or when Affymax elaborates on its markeging timeline and sales projections.

You are absolutely correct, but this is the first time Affymax's hiring needs have been pointed out in an investor oriented news article. Many investors do not take the time or perhaps do not have the time to read through information on company websites. Thanks for the comment.
