  • The Young And Restless Portfolio: Apple [View article]
Apple continues to be the best investment there is, the best investment there was and the best investment there will ever be regardless of what analysts think.

  • Why Is Almost Everybody In The Auto Industry Afraid Of Tesla Motors? [View article]
I love the company, I love the car and I love what Elon Musk is trying to accomplish. I just don't know if some of those goals are achievable and I don't know if Tesla is a good investment at the current valuation.

  • Why Bears Are So Wrong About Tesla [View article]
"you are looking at this the other way around. Nokia and Blackberry were the kings. It was Apple who made the appealing phone and toppled them."

Would Apple be able to topple Nokia and BlackBerry if it wasn't profitable? Apple, BlackBerry and Nokia built comparable phones; however Apple made a lot of money on the phones it sold while BlackBerry and Nokia didn't, therefore Apple got a market cap of $400 billion while the other two companies got market caps below $10 billion (even below their book value). This proves that profits matter sooner or later.

  • Why Bears Are So Wrong About Tesla [View article]
"For a auto company barely a year into its first mass product, gross profits mean a heck of a lot.

Obviously you do not know the difference between gross and net profits. Saying tesla loses money per car it sells implies the more it sells the more it loses. That is simply not true. If you can't state your position without making deliberately misleading statements why should anyone pay any attention to you?"

What are you talking about? Obviously you are the one that confuses different types of profits.

Let me teach you since you don't know anything about how profits work.

Gross profits = Sale Price of each item - Cost of building an item

Operating profits: Gross profits - sales administration and research costs (plus depreciation)

Net profits: operating profits - debt payments, (some types of capex) and taxes.

Do you understand the difference now? I am talking about OPERATING PROFITS not net profits. Please at least make an effort to understand what you are reading next time you attack someone.

  • Why Tesla's Growth Story May Not Go Per The Script [View article]
That's true. Currently Tesla has no competition in the electric car market but plenty of competition in the ICE market.

  • Chevrolet Volt's Failure Foreshadows Tesla's Fate [View article]
Having readers rate authors was already tried last year. It turns out that authors who wrote bullish articles consistently got higher scores than the authors who wrote bearish articles. I am not talking about this particular article, but when you look at the general theme, people will always rate articles based on how much they agree with those articles.

  • Tesla: I've Taken A Position [View article]
"But If the worse case of encountering a steel beam or towing hitch is that I have to pull over safely and my car has to be replaced by insurance, I'm actually ok with that. Not convinced there's an issue here."

And you can expect your insurance premium to double after that for the next 5-6 years, which means all the gas savings of having an electric car will disappear.

  • Windows Phone Continues To Establish Itself [View article]
"Microsoft will probably sell quite a few low-end, low-margin 520-style devices with its "superb Microsoft brand pull" - and then write down the sorry mess they will make of it all."

I could even see MS selling NOK its phone division back with a deep discount.

  • Tesla Myths Won't Stop Its Path To $500 Per Share [View article]
Tesla bulls are just getting their hands wet in terms of calculating value of a company so they are still in the process of learning. Next they will learn the difference between gross margin, operating margin and profit margin.

  • My Take On Microsoft's Nokia Acquisition [View article]
The sad thing is that most people who were likely to say "no" to the acquisition will have already sold their shares by then.

  • Nokia Lumia 1020 Edges The Company Back Into Conversation [View article]
As a Nokia bull, I don't think the company will be able to sell many Lumia 1020 copies but that's ok as long as the phone posts a tiny profit. A great majority of Lumias sold in the last couple years were low to medium end Lumias. Unfortunately, the high end Lumias don't sell that well.

That's $50B more than what Steve Jobs would have spent on buybacks. :)

  • An Uncomfortable Bull [View article]
While I understand caution when the market is at all time high, I continue to be optimistic as long as Fed's free money flows to the market. As long as the housing market continues to improve, this can drive US economy upwards for the next few years. After that, the US oil boom should take care of the rest.

  • Will Yelp Ever Justify Its Ridiculous Valuation? [View article]
Thank you for your "informative and valuable" addition to the discussion and your "well-constructed" counter arguments. We all learned so much from your "comment."

Just gotta love those who just read the title and come to launch empty and relentless attacks without actually reading or bothering to understand what the article talks about.
