Using FCF for future cash flows isnt unique at all. It is the best way to calculate cash flow and it's what Buffett has always used.

Problem with EBITDA is that it makes barely profitable companies look good because it leaves out so many expenses and doesn't measure actual cash flowing in and out of a company.
