  • Five Guru Bargain Stocks  [View article]
One of the main reasons that Trinity Industries Inc. (TRN) was interesting is because they lease railroad cars that can be used to transport coal. There was a big backlog of orders, too. Thus, Trinity was really an implicit energy play that from afar looked like a value play back in 2007. This is why a bunch of "gurus" ganged up on it and drove its share prices up. I sold it in May at $33+ / share. Now at $11 and forward P/E of 9 TRN is starting to look interesting again, but I will wait for the markets to bottom out before jumping into anything like this. There should be plenty of opportunities coming up.

  • Seven High-Priced Stock Values [View article]
A portfolio equally weighted in these stocks would have lost over 50% in value in just five months. Too bad this article appeared under the "Long Ideas."
