  • Who Owns the Fed? [View article]
    Dear Moneylender -
The Bank of England has no direct ownership in shares of the FED.
However, if BoE has ownership in any of the FED member banks, then it would have indirect ownership. I suppose this is possible due to the recent nationalization of several English banks. There are banks like Barclays in the below, but they are NOT FED member banks.

Where I fail you, sorry, is I do not know the stock holdings of BoE.

What's interesting is that OUR Treasury is now an indirect shareholder in the FED due to the bailout as it owns the stock of FED member banks like Citigroup, BoA, etc, etc. Its more incestual than direct.

  • Who Owns the Fed? [View article]
    Dear Kestrel -

I am aware of this separate stock rumor and have found absolutely nothing to substantiate it. In emails from the FED and their documents, there is no reference to this second type of stock that I've come across. I also don't think there would really be any good reason for the second type to exist -- the FED's best assets are really the FOMC and Bernanke at the top. Control those people, our modern-day oligarchs, and you control the FED, forget about any stock issue.
