Apple's success is that their devices are both functional and trendy. As soon as that changes, I would happily look at my position. If the lower price and margins of the iPad mini helps them continue to build market share, it will be worth the investment (so to speak from reduced margins/profit). Most of the people likely to jump in on the 7" model are likely not in the market if it is a larger price hit.
I don't think that is too crazy of a thought. I don't necessarily want them to go too far into the payments business, because I think going into services too much would dilute their dominance in tech products. There is plenty of growth left in iPhones, tablets, tv markets to set them for a long time. I actually would like to see them come out with a TV that incorporates SIRI. I think that would revolutionize the tv industry and they can be growing with that for years to come, i.e. offering tv programing a la carte, online streaming tv etc.
I am glad I could bring some peace to the situation. There was some negativity going on that I believed was unwarranted. It is hard to say. If you compare the charts of AAPLand CMG, the downward pressure seems to match up, which tells me that it may be tied to some money managers pulling back on their positions in some of the momentum growth stocks. Here is my areas of concern: Valuation: Where as Apple is trading at a huge P/E discount because of the size of their company and numbers, some analysts have expressed concern over the valuation (recent analyst downgrade on valuation). I am not concerned however since CMG has a lot of markets to grow into which justifies a higher multiple. I actually think you may see a boost today because of Apple's great quarter. CMG falls into the same category as Apple (not sector) of high quality growth stocks.
