Jay has been employed as a professional real estate appraiser since 1985 and continues to actively work in that industry. In addition to his appraisal activities, Jay has written for various real estate publications examining value trends and providing valuation insight since 1994.

Jay also writes on stocks and the stock market. He has commented on the stock market via his blog, Confused Capitalist, since 2006. Previously, Jay published the Global Walkers stock market newsletter in the late 1990s. He is also the author of The Brink's Truck Burst Open on Wall Street! A Holistic Approach to Finding The Easy Money In Common Stocks, a book that demystifies the stock-picking process.

Jay currently lives in Kelowna, Canada with his family.
