My investing life began with some mutual funds around 2006. In 2008, I have learned that the stock market can also decline, and pretty nastily sometimes. Since then, I have read many books about value investing and some about analyzing companies.
I try to adhere to the investing priciples laid by Graham and Buffett, but sometimes it is difficult to control my emotions -- especially non-invested cash is often burning a hole in my pocket.
Since my portfolio is small, it might be the best to go with a simple index fund, but I like to learn about the world around, and thus I occasionally analyse a few companies and buy some small pieces of them. I like dividend growth investing, but it is not very practical for my small portfolio. I also want only about a one third allocation to US dollar and thus have to buy international companies which usually do not have the culture of rising dividends every year.
