Dr. Joel West is professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship in the College of Business at San José State University. His research examines open source software, standards competition, technology entrepreneurship, and clean technologies. He was co-editor of the book Open Innovation: Researching a New Paradigm (Oxford, 2006). His consulting focuses on IP strategies and business models for software and Internet service companies. Prior to joining SJSU, he was president and co-founder of Palomar Software and a columnist for MacWEEK.
