I see spin-offs as a special situation within value investing and evaluate individual opportunities with an eye to that perspective.

I write a blog in an effort to

- clarify my own thinking enough that I can write it down and see if it makes sense even to me

- keep my attention on the market, especially when things get slow or confusing I am finding myself distracted

- elicit comments and questions on the topic from others, hopefully getting new ideas, resources, and clues as to where I may be missing the obvious
