  • CenturyLink Dividends: Dependable and Growing [View article]
I too have read their statements of comfort regarding the dividend, however I cannot find proformas indicating the payout ratio. Has anyone else seen this documented?

I agree that the $17 - $12 range is where a profitable purchase could be made.

  • 20 Cheap S&P Stocks to Take Advantage of the Pullback [View article]
I follow and/or trade many of the names on this list. I am particularly interested in $AFL at these levels.

I am sure a portion of these companies will not be around 10 years from now, but with such a diverse list, those should be offset by others that are trading at 2x - 5x their current level.

It would be interesting to track this particular grouping for 1, 3, 5 and 10 year forward returns.

    Interesting list, thanks!

I own $CTL, but am a little concerned about it's payout ratio. Do you have any insight on projected free cash flow dividend payout ratio?

That argument doesn't work. Practically, $AAPL is a triple from here over the next decade.

From a $6B base, one could argue $LULU realistically has potential to grow 3x as well, however I would rather wait for the company to grow into its multiple. With few exceptions, growth slows, multiples contract and momentum chasers switch positions and short aggressively. I wouldn't want to be there when that happens- sooner than you think.

Paying 40x next years earnings for $LULU when I can get $AAPL for 10x doesn't work for me.

I think you have highlighted a well-balanced group of stocks. You cover a lot of ground with these six, and I think the portfolio has a very good chance of outperforming the markets over the next 6-12 months.

$P and $SIRI aside, the model is severely flawed. I suggest you go back and read Security Analysis or The Intelligent Investor to learn the basics about assessing risk/reward.

$SODA, like all fad products will be soon forgotten. Price declines of 50% from current levels are likely within 6 months. Trade this one carefully and be sure not to be the one caught holding an empty bag.

in this environment, i think you can build a reliable, diversified portfolio with a > 7% yield

my top holdings include $JNK, $PFF, $ETP and $EXC... i think there are many opportunities for outsized yields with less risk than the market as a whole

i have successfully trades $BBY for years, buying when valuations became too attractive to ignore... i would like to think now is another great entry point, but i have the sense that $BBY is broken and will remain so for some time... i do not rule out periodic 10% - 20% rallies, but from what prices?
