The land of opportunity has changed into the land of entitlements.  If you can't afford something, buy it on credit... don't you dare wait and save up for it like the &quot;old days&quot;.   Americans have bought too many cars, too many houses, and too much junk to put in them.  Your neighbor has something you want, well you shouldn't have to work hard for it, you should be entitled to it because we are a &quot;civilized nation&quot; whatever that means.  Consumers aren't the only ones that have spent like drunken sailors, the good old government is on pace for a 1.8 Trillion dollar deficit this year.  Yikes.<br><br>Much has been written about how the USA is becoming less important at the expense of China and the developing world.  The Chinese save money, Americans don't.  China is growing, the USA is not.  The USA is losing manufacturing jobs, everything seems to be made in China these days...  Or is it?</font></font></div></div></div></div>]]>

Last week, the Washington Post broke a story <a href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/07/07/AR2009070701335.html">here</a> about how the lovely state of Virginia is planning to close 18 rest stops along Interstate 95 to help close the state's budget gap.</p><p>There will now be <strong>a 105.99 mile stretch without bathroom on the Eastern seaboard's crowded main artery.</strong> Have fun driving into some back woods town, stopping at the old Exxon fill up station and asking for a key tied to a boat paddle to use their old run down bathroom.</p>]]>

Printing more money <strong><em>leads</em></strong> to inflation but inflation is really more money chasing the same amount of goods which results in <strong>bidding up prices</strong>.</p><p>If the government expanded the money supply but as the new money trickled into the economy, everybody put that money into the bank we would NOT have inflation.  We would have inflation when that new money came out and started bidding up asset prices.</p>]]>
