  • Why The 'Buffett Put' Provides Berkshire With Perpetual Positive Asymmetry Hidden In Plain Sight [View article]
Comparing Berkshire to 1990s tech bubble stocks is ridiculous. It's not even apples to oranges, more like apples to cat turds. Now, if we were talking 90s tech with stocks today like Netflix or Tesla you might have a case, but Berkshire? No way.

Berkshire is the ultimate buy and hold stock. Buy it today, buy it tomorrow, and if it goes down, buy more. Lots more.

  • Buffett: Get a mortgage now [View news story]
Unfortunately, those who most need to take advantage of todays record low mortgage rates to buy a home can't because they either don't have enough for the down payment, or they don't have good enough credit. The pendulum has swung too far back towards tighter lending standards in response to the financial crisis, and we again find ourselves in a situation where you can only get a loan if you don't need one. I fear that millennials will not be lining up for mortgages any time soon.

  • Bank Of America's Margins Will Drive Billions In Additional Profits [View article]
$24 by Dec 2015 and $30 by Dec 2017 sounds reasonable, along with a $1 to $1.25 per year dividend.

Yes, auto insurance through Geico and financing through Wells Fargo. There is a LOT of potential synergy here. Brilliant.

  • Buffett picks up auto dealership group [View news story]
Along the lines of the BYD distribution thought, Elan Musk tweeted today "About time to unveil the D and something else". There's been a lot of speculation about what D means. Could D mean dealership? And could dealership mean a possible deal between Tesla and Berkshire's new dealership company? I know it's a major stretch, but Warren is now heavily invested in electric cars, auto dealerships, and electric utilities. High end Teslas and a low end BYDs on the same lot? Thoughts anyone?

  • Buffett picks up auto dealership group [View news story]
Van Tuyl is the largest privatley held chain of dealerships in the US. Interesting point about this being a possible BYD distribution channel. It's also a really nice asset play as auto dealerships tend to be large lots located in prime areas. Once again, Warren is WAY ahead of the curve.

  • Berkshire Hathaway: The Buy For When You Get An Itchy Trigger Finger [View article]
Yes, but has Buffett set the buy target - 1.2 x book. If you buy BRK at that level, you'll do very well in the long term.

If Ted and Todd are well paid, so are shareholders. And so far, they've been worth every penny they've earned.

  • JPMorgan: A Solid Value In This Fully Valued Market [View article]
I'm long JPM at $44, a great long term stock for sure, but I wouldn't be a buyer now at $60. BAC is the better buy right now.

  • Markel: A Compounding Machine At A Cheap Price [View article]
Bingo, you're 100% correct dealraker. MKL is one of the best long term opportunities in the market today. Be patient and accumulate at 1.2 X BV or lower and you will do exceedingly well long term. VERY Long MKL and BRK-B.

    Great article too, thanks!

  • Update: Bar Harbor Bankshares Earnings [View article]
Sometimes is good to be small. BHB is a great little community bank and a great stock to hold long term. Buy now, let the dividends compound and maybe someday a bigger bank will buy it out at a nice premium.
