3 Stocks For A Balanced Approach To Battling The Obesity Epidemic [View article]
phemale, I agree with your obsevations - the proof is all around us. The next time you are out in a crowd, just take notice of the number of people with obvious weight issues - I think the actual number you count will be quite a bit higher than you expect. Obesity really is a major issue facing Americans today, and we really need to promote awareness and healthier lifestyle choices. In the end though, it will be up to each individual to make their own choices and take control of their own lives and choices.

Todays announcement of the $50 million credit facility with Platinum Montaur should be viewed positivley. This is not a loan perse, but a line of credit, and Navidea does not plan to draw any of the funds at this time. Consider this a backstop to their already strong balance sheet, and a reason to dispell all of the dillution speculation that's always being whispered, as NAVB now has zero reason to issue shares.
Quote from todays Business Wire news release:
"This transaction provides the Company with significant, yet flexible, financial resources to fund its development and growth plans. No draws are currently planned in connection with entering into this facility."
Debt Burden Makes Horizon Pharma An Attractive Short [View article]
"There is a very reasonable likelihood that Horizon defaults on the $60MM loan, per the September 30 revenue threshold requirement."
What you say is true, Mr Shkreli, but what you conveniently forget to mention is that with only 33M share outstanding, Horizon should be able to benefit from an INCREASE in share price after an FDA approval by selling new shares in an offering to raise any funds needed to meet their obligations. Instead, the companys hard work and millions of dollars invested in getting to FDA approval are "rewarded" by having the stock driven down by hedge funds with heavy short positions spreading fear and doubt and using illegal naked shorting tactics purely for their own enrichment, to the detriment of both the company and the shareholder. Hardly seems fair to me. What say you to that, Mr Shhreli?
Should You Invest In Bank Of America Because Buffett Did? [View article]
You should NOT invest in BAC because Warren Buffett did. You should invest in BAC because it is a tremendous franchise that is slowly but steadily being leaned up and beaten back into shape, and IMO, it offers the greatest potential for share price increase long term than any of the other big banks. BAC should see $20 - $25 per share and a much higher dividend within 3-4 years - a great long term investment, again IMO.
Fear And Noise Creating Opportunity In Freeport-McMoRan [View article]
I expect that Freeport and the Indonesian government will work out a reasonable settlement at some point in the near future. Once this uncertainty is removed, I expect the stock to move back up quickly. This stock has a history of quick moves, both up and down. I'm long FCX, with a $55 target price, and I'll collect the nice dividend while I wait. This company offers a lot of value, and it's on sale dirt cheap. I'll also add more if we dip under $30.

I agree with you on ARNA, the company has a bright future. I also recommend that biotech investors take a look at NAVB. They have a Sept 10 PDUFA date for Lymphoseek, and two other promising drug candidates in the pipeline. Focused management, strong balance sheet, and a near term catalyst - what more can you ask for.
I agree, FCX is a compelling buy right now, however I have a much higher target price in mind - $55. This stock has a history of fast moves, and I believe the slightest signs of improving copper demand will sent this up quickly. With the strong balance sheet, and with the current yield, I'm comfortable holding FCX long term and won't sell until $55 or higher. Great article too, thank you.

BTU is the best of breed of the coal companies, and at current price, is worth buying and waiting out a coal price recovery. Too bad the dividend wasn't a little higher. Can't have everything I suppose.

Joe Kelly, you are soooo right. There's a world of difference between undervalued and cheap. Most people just don't want to, or don't know how, to do the work to tell the difference.

I agree, Lor-Phen (or is it now Bel-Phen?) will be the blockbuster obesity drug in the end. It will combine Belviqs safety profile with increased efficacy - the best of both worlds. And I believe ARNA will be able to patent the unique combination, giving them an exclusive blockbuster drug.

Simple profit taking. ARNA went down for a few days after approval too, as run up investors strated taking their profits and moving on to the next PDUFA play.

I too ran across SUPN while I was in ARNA, but it had run up a too high for my taste - I'm a "get in early and grow with the company" type, but it is a nice opportunty. Excellent article too, thank you.
