The past year or so just from glancing at the charts of some popular commodity funds; it appears they are having lower highs and lower lows. A lower low looks imminent.

Fair enough - but what about something to hedge the eventual rising interest rates ??? Maybe a zero duration bond fund and/or a long short bond fund.

i.e: (HYZD), (AGZD), (HYLD), (HYLS). These are newish but just some quick ideas.

The portfolio appears to have a lot of overlap, this bears out with the high average correlation of 0.84 (since May 2013). Nothing in this portfolio for hedging interest rate risks.

  • The Time To Hedge Is Now! Do It For Less - Part II [View article]
There may be some in registration right now. Looks like these may attempt to give the investor a position in a spot price without that roll decay from contango.

  • Momentum ETFs: Really A Good Idea? [View article]
I think these momentum ETFs are fine for those who are active traders. They could be used in lieu of the leveraged index ETF's in the same way. Not really for buy and hold - but for trading in and out of for quick gains.

Hard to say,--- but I think the gold trade makes sense as long as Russia has 40,000 troops on the border of Ukraine ready to invade.

Agree - The gold and PM miners could also do very well here for the intermediate term. Good luck, thanks for writing.

"...Just remember that "Value works. Growth works. Momentum works. Quality works. They just don't all work at the same time." (see A quant lesson from a technician). To leave any of those factor sets out is to leave out part of the market and alpha generation opportunity set..."

Perfect. 100% agree. :Every style has its day in the sun....and its comeuppance.

    Here's something to chew on:
This is the index ALFA is based on.

I like the hedging feature which avoids the really bloody drawdowns.

Sooo when you find that obscure market anomaly.....keep it to yourself and don't blab about it - as doing so will hasten its demise.

  • Exploiting Discount Arbitrage Opportunities In CEFs [View article]
Palm try these 2 for info and discount/premium for CEF's.

    Morningstar also has this data:

Be careful. CEF's are very volatile and can be an expensive learning experience. i.e. Never buy a new IPO CEF.

You didn't mention (ALFA), which has a methodology similar to (GURU) but also has a hedging feature if things get really ugly. I like these Global X products but that hedging feature in the AlphaClone product is very desirable especially when investing in what may be a market top and now the beginning of a sizeable correction or worse.
