  • Apple Insider Trading History: Interesting, In A Non-Obvious Way [View article]
Thanks for yet another different perspective on AAPL: it is actually pretty interesting, and I agree with Insiders' optimism

johnofarizonaoregon, totally agree with the map thing. I always found google maps inaccurate too anyway, and I really like to finally have turn by turn navigation, which Google wouldn't have given to iOS for at least 1-2 years. Moreover, if someone really wants google maps back, just go to maps.google.com on your iphone and you'll get almost the same as the old app.

  • What Stopped Apple From Selling More Than 5 Million iPhones [View article]
    Not necessarily
After every Apple event, the products presented have always been introduced more or less 9 days after that day.
And september 12th event was scheduled precisely that day to drive attention away from the Lumia 920, which had just been announced two days earlier, and, if it was necessary, from the newly announced Motorola smartphones and Amazon's Kindles.
Not to mention the fact that the Galaxy S III had already overtaken the 4S as the best selling smartphone

  • Without Steve Jobs, Apple Is Without A Map [View article]
Paulo, as mgdance said, I most often agree with and appreciate your views, but this time I don't think you have a good point.
First of all, I don't like when you say "Steve wouldn't allow", et al: you can't know, and it would be, with all due respect, hubristic of you to claim to know what Steve would think. Besides, as Tim Cook said previously this year at the D10 interview, Steve told him many times never to ask himself "what would Steve do" but to use his own ideas.

Secondly, but most importantly, I think that iOS 6 maps are way better than Google Maps. I don't miss public transportation info or street view at all (I have probably never used the latter on my iPhone but only on my Mac's bigger screen) when in exchange I receive "flyover" that is absolutely stunning for major cities and especially TURN BY TURN NAVIGATION.
I went on the wrong route many times due to Google maps' lack of this feature, while with current Siri's directions you would have to be blind to take a wrong turn.
Moreover, Google's info about places' locations wasn't always accurate. Actually it was pretty flawed, especially abroad.

Thirdly, take a look to this article written by Philip Elmer Dewitt ( http://bit.ly/PcniMj ). It plainly explains how Apple had to stop the freely taken advantage that Google was received by all the iDevices.

So we could all agree that Apple new Maps app isn't perfect, but already offers major advantages over the old Google Maps app (see Turn by turn navigation and Flyover) and will probably get drastic improvements in iOS 7. IMHO, I don't think it is a problem at all.
