  • 5 Reasons Apple Is Currently Cheap [View article]
Bobbobwhite: there are absolutely two sides to the dividend issue, but I feel a one time cash payout could boost the stock from an investment perspective. The future of Apple shall be interesting.

  • For Long-Term Stability, Sell Clorox And Buy Johnson & Johnson [View article]
twm3823: I believe that in the case of investing in one of these companies long-term, it is best to have exposure to the one that holds less debt on its balance sheet. Though they do not compete neck and neck in all products does not mean that fundamentally they do not exhibit many of the same qualities as companies and stocks.

cpa28761: Thank you for your thoughtful analysis. I agree that the two companies are not exactly the same, but from a financial prospective they are both large-cap, save-havens for investors. Your point about PG debt due to the acquisition of Gillette is interesting, but i still stand to the believe (as you do) "that JNJ is a much better company and investment than CLX."

  • SuperValu: A Dividend But Big Debt Problems [View article]
I would argue that the high dividend is due to the high level of risk that investors are taking by buying SVU.

Allan: I did not know that AAPL included options and expenses verse GOOG which does not.
I believe GOOG should trade at a higher multiple than YHOO, but I would argue that it may be vauled too high right now.

Alan Brochstein: thank you for pointing this out. In the future I will make this more explicit. Being that they are both the same type of PE ratio (trailing), the comparison is accurate.

  • 3 Top Stocks For 2012 And Beyond [View article]
With this article being under "retirement" I do not understand how SVU can be apart of a retirees portfolio... It is very risky and I do not believe that any stock that has true potential for bankruptcy should be in a longterm portfolio (because usually a longterm portfolio would be money people need.)

Joe Kelly: With all due respect, liking GOOG e-mail tools more than the competition is not a reason to buy the stock. It is clear that GOOG is an exceptional operator, the problem is in the expectations of the stock. If the stock were $400.00, they would still have a good tool bar, the only difference would be that their valuation would be closer to where their competitors are.
