5 Signs an ETF May Soon Close Up Shop [View article]
I think a better volume cutoff is 100,000 shares. This will also cut down on the spread between bid and ask when you first enter the position. It also ensures that the ETF has found solid acceptance in the market.

GLD and USO continue to be core holdings in my ETF Portfolio, which has shifted dramatically between a heavy weighting in international ETFs six months ago to a focus on positions in precious metals, commodities and short ETFs. That's the great thing about ETFs: their diversity and range in covering the overall world market makes it easy to shift money into the areas that are working at any moment.

The stock is trading at 8-9 times earnings - and it will probably go lower due to the market. Could be a good stock to build a position in starting in the lower 20s. These shipping stocks will bounce well in the next market move up.

The Rally is Coming: Always Buy Too Soon [View article]
I seem to recall similar advice from the Motley Fools in 1999: "Just buy great stocks, because they will always go up." We all know how that turned out.

Jones Soda's Failures: Blame the Board [View article]
Robert,
JSDA made our newsletter screens during its big climb and fell off those during its first fall from grace. I have not kept track of it much during its descent. All I can say is "wow."
Looks like a lot of fingers were sliced off by this falling knife.
If it's going to make comeback it will have to trade sideways first while getting its operational house in order. I'll wait until it sees new high ground again before taking a fresh look.

Although the Nasdaq and Russell 2000 just broke below their January lows, it wasn't by much and a double bottom is possible on those indices as well. The only problem is that the Fed is late to the party and the economic data points continue to deteriorate. We might need to get closer to Nasdaq 2,000 and see some more extreme panic selling before a true bottom is carved out.

I have to agree that markets are going to go where they want to go despite the Fed's desire to change that dynamic. Oil, metals and commodity plays should contrinue to benefit along with bear market ETFs.
Where is the bottom for financials? Hint: we're not there yet.
