  • World's Top 6 Gold Producers: 6th Place, Yamana Gold [View article]
Thank you RHD. Good question. The ranking takes more than one attribute into account: production level, quality of assets, revenue, projects potential and cash flow available to operate to name a few.

Good question Tom. For now, there is no indication that the Argentinian Government will nationalize the mines from its country. However, facing high level of inflation, the Government is trying everything in its power to counteract its perverse effects. Therefore, any operation in Argentina is risky. Diversification by mining in many jurisdictions is the best way for a company to reduce the risk to its minimum.

The cost of $1,434/oz is the average cost for gold only with G&A, capex and explorations fees included.

You're welcome Walt970. The average realized gold cost for 2012 was $1,434/oz considering G&A, sustaining capex and exploration costs. However, I believe the by-product cash cost gives a better indication of how much it costs to a company to dig out an ounce of gold without considering the capex and exploration costs. These costs are highly variable depending on the aggressive or conservative approach a given company will allow its cash to fund its projects and exploration activities.

I know some will disagree but it depends how you want to take a look at it. Yamana remains one of the top by-product low-cost on the gold market.

Sorry oppugn, I am not specialized enough about MTFs but I don't think there is a specific MTF about LNG therefore the closest one would be 'utilities'.

Sorry Veejay, I am not specialized enough on foreign companies to be very helpful. I know GasLog as a major LNG transporter but a thorough analysis should be done on it before thinking on any investment.

Yeah, the new find could change Australia's economy for good. $20 trillion is a lot. They would become LNG exporter instead of currently importing their needs in energy. I don't know much about Linc Energy other than being in operation for a long time. It's worth a look for sure.

You are correct petpirhana but the next few months will be very interesting. President Obama will have no choice but no grant new licenses to give the economy a boost it desperately needs.

Westport is specializing in new technologies for different applications such as natural gas engines of all sorts and automotive compressed natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas fuel system components. Its high-end line of products will definitely attract companies needing to cut the shipping costs of their fleet by converting their engines to natural gas instead of gasoline. Westport manufactures LNG tanks and some of the equipment needed in LNG terminals but I would say that its main niche remains its specialization in gaseous fuel engineering and innovative technology.

  • Shale Gas Revolution: Greatest Boom Ever For The U.S. Economy? [View article]
What is important here is that natural gas prices are cheaper than outside North America and the global demand is increasing year by year as emergent countries needs more energy. The relative cost to recover the gas is getting cheaper than before, so I believe companies deciding to shut down some of their wells is because the volumes of recovery aren't good enough to keep them opened and they'd rather focus their attention to drill somewhere else where higher volumes are expected.

As for Obama's administration, he recognized himself that shale gas plays were playing a bigger role as a cheap energy source and it was important that companies involved were being supported by the Government. This statement appears to me as a way to say that he will do what he has to do to insure that politics will not be an obstacle to the growth of this commodity to expand to new markets. U.S. economy depends on it.

Sorry for the delay, TCP is a master limited partnership which means they have interests in different pipelines where TransCanada is involved. TRP build, design and operates them. TCP makes profit out of parts from usage of the pipelines by corporations.
