    • Kirk Lindstrom: Apple doesn't own a chip fab. They use Samsung and TSMC.

    • smokeyRose: Samsung Aren't the the Nemesis of Apple!!!!

    • Kirk Lindstrom: exactly... a good reason to find a new foundry. Not many choices....

    • anonymous1111: Intel is the only company with the capacity to take on Apple. They are currently at 50% utilization which is why I think it is plausible.

    • rasanders22: Would Intel be willing to tie up fab spacebuilding chips for someone else (at a unkown profit margin) when in the future they could use that

    • rasanders22: to build their own chips that are in high demand.

    • anonymous1111: If the make an agreement to build chips the profit margin would not be unknown though less than if they sold their own chips.

    • anonymous1111: The future is unknown and it is highly unlikely they would receive enough orders to fill the excess capacity they have.

    • Kirk Lindstrom: They could also do custom server chips for a big data company like Google, Facebook or Amazon. See http://seekingalpha.com/a/mgdf
