  • Graphene Is Going To Grow: A Few Companies To Make You Some Money [View article]
bkkbank, appreciate the comment. I have read though that while the synthetic graphene is higher quality, it is also quite expensive. But high quality flakes taken from graphite are still a high enough quality at a much better price.

So as a graphene producer/user if I can get high enough quality from the flakes for a much lower price what is the incentive to use synthetic graphene? Are there some applications that require the synthetic stuff? In everything I found it didn't appear that graphene from flakes had limitations compared to the synthetic graphene.

    Thanks!

Greg, thanks for the catch, momentary lapse...guess that would make it one heck of a material if it could bring peace!

  • First 3D HDTV, Next 3D Printers? The Long Case For 3D Systems [View article]
Tristan, I mentioned that these two could be quickly hurt overnight by a startup with a better idea...especially if a larger company were to get their hands on the idea.

And you're right, at this point, there isn't a clear winner in this area. I think this will be a race akin to HD DVD vs. BLUERAY in terms of the home use market. I like you am watching to see what continues to develop because I think there is a good money making potential in this industry.

banenga, I have read the items and that's the company's estimate that wants the money. I think that amount is probably a little higher than actually may be awarded if anything ends up being awarded.

  • Atmel's XSense Give It A 50% Upside [View article]
Ivan, I like the concept and think it has great potential. I know I always hate that I have to stop using my computer/device for large file transfers. One concern I have though is the ability to virus scan the content during transfer; if it's supposed to be bypassing the processor will the scan have to occur and then the data transfer?

But like I said, this is all exciting, and I'm thrilled someone finally thought of that idea.

  • The Next Big Thing In Technology On The Go: Flexible Displays [View article]
aporeh, I didn't mean to come off dismissing PANL or any of the smaller companies. I was merely scratching the surface and trying to point out some lesser known companies that are big into this new technology to give readers a place to start their own research. I actually really love PANL and it is on my list of companies to get into I just haven't gotten around to it yet unfortunately. I would strongly oppose going for a bigger Sammy or MSFT because there isn't nearly the growth potential that PANL has.

Pone, I think else will count for Joe's, but I will definitely be on the call tomorrow and do a little update afterwards.

Dean, thanks for the heads up, I agree with Pone, Joe's needs to make their website friendlier for finding events.

Pone, Deanhan1 is right, they're there you just have to dig a little for them. I prefer the 10-Q/10-Ks because all the dirty little secrets are in the footnotes as required by the SEC. Investor presentations are marketing/publicity and therefore I don't trust them nearly as much as filed docs.
I didn't have any comps nor did JOEZ have any guidance for the Macy's trial. There wasn't even guidance as to if it was solely a trial or only planned for the 140-145 stores.
I'm calling it a trial based on my retail experience and am waiting to hear about its progress on the conference call Thursday. I think we'll see positive results for it with talk of plans to release the line to all Macy's stores in time for the holiday buying season. I don't think there will be too much of a direct erosion of Joe's branded jeans because of the price point difference. If anything, I think some people would buy two pair of else vs. one pair of Joe's still bringing in the same sales. And I'm hoping the margin on else is similar to Joe's, but there's nothing on that yet either. This should be a very interesting call. I also hope to hear about new retail strategies with Miss Calabrese having been aboard for a little while now.

Dyrodium, you're exactly right, while they do hold some very key patents, any tech startup can come out and have a slight tweak in the design or process that isn't covered by the patent and be the best. DDD needs to not only keep up on R&D, but watch for companies like that and potentially buy them up before another competitor does if the technology would put DDD at a disadvantage.

Dalton, I think especially with the market-wide pullback here buying on a pullback is the way to go. I think DDD might get down to $21-$22 ahead of earnings. Its obviously falling victim to the speculation that all earnings will be down for this quarter, despite a consensus that tech is one of the few sectors growing. Earnings come out on the 26th, my estimate of revenues was very conservative, lower than even the street's low of $70M. Regardless, that still gives DDD 50% YoY sales growth which is still a great sign. I'll be more focused on guidance for the rest of the year. I added a little when it passed $24, and have some additional adds set for further drops; but unless earnings or guidance for the year disappoint, I don't think it will see $20, but if it does, that's an amazing price.

Dan, yeah, they look good...I'm waiting for the conference call to hear how the else line is doing.

Dean, I'm not a designer jeans guy, my wife on the other hand is designer everything and swears I need to try them out. Maybe one day I will...I just worry the first day I had them on I'd rip or otherwise destroy them.

Bobbi, my wife has the same feeling about the cheap jeans, maybe I'll have to try a pair sooner than later.

  • What To Expect Next In The World Of Pharmacy Benefit Management [View article]
Earl, I am not sure on this one. Obviously the size would them benefit in the fight against the new ESRX and CVS. But given the FTC's reliance on having them separate (more PBMs) to help justify allowing the ESRX-MHS deal so I don't think it could pass that stage. But that bid to combine so they could better compete with the bigger companies could help their case. Sorry I don't have anything better on that.

  • 4 Companies To Play The Increasing Aircraft Orders Reports [View article]
Hammster, only reason its not on there is it wasn't one I was familiar with. On a quick glance (and mind you it is a quick glance) it has grown quite a bit as of late, I'm not sure how much longer it will be able to sustain that. Also, the $16M in debt to only $1.5M cash and $1.5M FCF could be concerning depending on when the debt comes due. I do really enjoy the 35% insider ownership though. I will definitely have to take a closer look, thanks for the mention!
