Pharmaceutical Industry Merger Mania: Consolidation vs. Diversification

In response to Cherrpicker's comment about Abbott's "significant animal health business", I am hard pressed to classify ABT's animal health business as "significant". I reviewed 75 pages of Abbott's 2008 Annual report and can find no accounting or executive presence for Abbott Animal Health in that report (although ABT does have such a division and lists 6 products for sale--NOT a major presence).
