  • ChipMOS: Undervalued By At Least 40% Relative To Industry Peers [View article]
Russ, what does that mean? The article doesn't suggest an appropriate value.

  • Railcar makers routed after lobbyists seek delay of oil tank car rules [View news story]
Assuming that life is a series of compromises, perhaps this is better news and an over reaction. Should the compromise land at the midpoint of the two sides, both $GBX and $TRN might enjoy a longer period of sustained backlog as there is no argument that tank cars need to be "safer" than they are today.

  • Stock price targets raised for Greenbrier, Trinity Industries at KeyBanc [View news story]
Fairly obvious raise as the both the macro situation with oil prices rising as a result of world tensions and more micro with both companies having enormous multi year backlogs and increasing demand coupled with both leasing deals and probable legislation that will force railroads to upgrade tank cars and maybe others give $TRN and $GBX a smooth ride for the near term

The article has those 3 valuations as "approximate" while Russ Fischer says "appropriate" and that is my query

  • CodeSmart's ICD-10 Business Model Success To Be Judged By Upcoming Q3 Results [View article]
While I think ITEN is quite an interesting stock and with lots of potential, the fact of the matter is that there are dozens to hundreds of available options for training for ICD-10, just Google "ICD-10 Training" to see.

CMS the government agency that reimburses for medical matters has the following on their website regarding ICD-10 Transition training (http://bit.ly/1bJofqP):

What type of training will providers and staff need for the ICD-10 transition?

AHIMA recommends training should begin no more than six months before the compliance deadline

Training varies for different organizations, but it is projected to take 16 hours for coders and 50 hours for inpatient coders. For example, physician practice coders will need to learn ICD-10 diagnosis coding only, while hospital coders will need to learn both ICD-10 diagnosis and ICD-10 inpatient procedure coding.

Look for specialty-specific ICD-10 training offered by specialty societies and other professional organizations.

===> Take into account that ICD-10 coding training will be integrated into the CEUs that certified coders must take to maintain their credentials.

===> ICD-10 resources and training materials will be available through CMS, professional associations and societies, and software/system vendors.

Visit http://www.cms.gov/ICD10 regularly throughout the course of the transition to access the latest information on training opportunities

  • Ray Dalio explains the concept of a beautiful deleveraging and why the U.S. is in one, but the EU, not so much. He expects the ECB will ultimately print money and produce another big rally, "but this is a tougher time to be very confident about that scenario." An "uncivilized" man, Dalio remains a fan of gold, recommending most have 10% of their assets in the metal.  [View news story]
OK, I get and agree that RD is brilliant++ and that 10% of my portfolio should be in Gold. Now, what about the other 90%?
Bonds, equities no good, cash will be eaten alive either by QE or deflation, so where do we go???

  • Heavy Insider Buying At Opko Health Continues Throughout The Holidays [View article]
$OPK I would generally agree that Frost seems to have a programmed buy program in place, BUT there must be something more fundamental about this in that according to public record he owns over 110 MILLION shares worth over $500 MILLION (yes, that's half a BILLION $$$), clearly he has more than sustaining the stock price on his mind.

Assuming your premise is correct, why not buy the inverse treasuries, either TBF (1X), TBT (2X), TMV (3X). At least you would remove some of the tome factor of the options although deal with the decay of these derivatives.

  • Pharmaceutical Industry Merger Mania: Consolidation vs. Diversification [View article]
In response to Cherrpicker's comment about Abbott's "significant animal health business", I am hard pressed to classify ABT's animal health business as "significant". I reviewed 75 pages of Abbott's 2008 Annual report and can find no accounting or executive presence for Abbott Animal Health in that report (although ABT does have such a division and lists 6 products for sale--NOT a major presence). The commenter is directed to pages 53 and 64 of that report for further details.
