Dendreon (DNDN) came out with positive data Tuesday morning regarding its prostate cancer treatment Provenge trials using immunotherapy. This is really the first possible successful cancer vaccine treatment as everything up until this point has failed using this method.

This is the headline number that most people focus on. There are however some problems with this number. Now with unemployment becoming a bigger problem, more and more people are finding that this measurement may not really be telling the whole story. The U3 rate which is the one that everyone reads about in the headlines does not include things like part-time and discouraged job seekers. As many of you I'm sure have heard Petrobras (PBR) has announced a huge oil find off the coast of Brazil which may be the biggest find in over 50 years. In order to exploit this new discovery they are said to be trying to tie up 80% of the known deep-water rigs on the planet. This bodes well for RIG as only 15 deep-water rigs between now and 2010 will be available including new constructs and RIG owns 7 of those.

DynCorp is a military contracting company that does logistics, translations services, training of police and military forces, aviation maintenance and support, along with eradicating coco in Columbia and Poppy in Afghanistan (nobody's perfect).

Increased competition in this space has really hurt the performance of the smaller stand alone players like AZO and The Pep Boys (PBY). Walmart (WMT), Costco (COST) and Sears (SHLD) have all moved into this space in an aggressive manner. The overall retail environment is also providing problems for the auto parts retailers and I think this will make it very difficult for AZO to meet it's revenue projections.

BIDZ is an online retail company the specializes in jewelry. Their website really stands out from the boring, regular e-commerce site. Check it out and you will see what I mean. One thing, apart from the flashing bid buttons, is that at the end of the bidding process, unlike eBay (EBAY) and others, once someone ups their bid it sets the clock back to 14 seconds to give the other bidders a chance to get back in. This way people can't come in at the last second and steal the product away from the other bidders. It also helps BIDZ get more money out of every auction. BIDZ is starting to branch out into auctioning all kinds of different items, but jewelery is currently their main focus.

The company recently increased its 2007 revenue guidance and is experiencing incredible growth by buying majority stakes in Chinese companies and providing consulting services. In their most recent quarter, they posted revenue of 40.453 million, income of 2.268 million and EPS of .15 These numbers included extra income of 603k comprised of 372k of accrued income taxes about 75k of interest income and 175k in marketable securities.

The VN segment provides skilled medical services in patients' homes to enable recipients to reduce or avoid periods of hospitalization and/or nursing home care. The PC segment services are also provided in patients' homes. These services (generally provided by paraprofessional staff, such as home health aides) are generally of a custodial rather than skilled nature.

They are working on major WiMax projects (think of a wireless network at your home or business except that it covers an entire city) and working to help increase the wireless bandwidth limits for PCs and cellphones so that it is possible to stream voice, video and data at high speeds. This "triple play" and the increasing need for massive amounts of bandwidth really starting to explode bodes very well for the future prospects of this company.

The company should also be seeing a little more street recognition as it made the number 1 spot in the IBD this weekend. CRNT just reported another great quarter at the end of July, and the stock price passed the $15 threshold. That should help to support the stock in this tough market and Telecom Wireless Equipment Sector is also a strong one.

Investors have taken notice and have sent the shares skyrocketing 200% over the last year. This new higher valuation is dependent upon the company growing their top and bottom lines quickly.

At a market cap of $457.5M, subtract about $135M from the Sony (SNE) payout and you get $322.5M. Divide that by estimated revenue of $33M for 2007, you have a stock that is trading at almost 10 times its revenues. Based on current estimates, they're expected to grow revenues at 20% per year and have a whopping .04 cent profit next year. Clearly if this was the whole story it would not be a very attractive investment.
