  • Will Institutional Support For J.C. Penney Vanish? [View article]
More analysis from you on JCP would be very interesting. As a discussion point, how much time do you think the current CEO has to turn around the business before he gets replaced?

  • Philip Morris Is Not Too Expensive [View article]
Great point, Stephen. The peers you mention are as relevant as the ones in the article. Also, we should look at fundamentals too rather than just at dividend because by taking on debt any company can "grow' its dividend.

  • Chimera Investment Beats Delisting Deadline; 2011 10-K Highlights [View article]
Finally Chimera's 10-K for 2011. Tim, thanks for reviewing it so quickly after it was released.

laterre, dividend yield and ROE have different variables both in the numerator and the denominator so the two metrics can diverge for a long period of time. But I agree with your implicit point on the sustainability of the dividend...

  • Hemp, Inc.: Priced Way Too High [View article]
Alan, great piece of research! I think many people are still missing your point on separating positive underlying trends and whether a company's shareholders can benefit from those trends...

  • B&G Foods Loses Value On Declining Volumes [View article]
The reliance on the CEO or a few other people to make marketing decisions means that at some point they will not have enough time for every brand. Just as in your informative story from the 70s.

I think current multiples imply healthy long-term growth so it is good to ask whether BGS' current business model can achieve that.

    Thanks.

  • 3 Reasons Hot Middleby Could Cool Off [View article]
Alan, thanks for this article. What growth rates do you expect over, say, the next 5 years so that the 21x PE can be justified?

  • B&G Foods Loses Value On Declining Volumes [View article]
Crunching Numbers, thanks for the article. If we look beyond the recent and next quarters, how many brands do you think this company can manage successfully before it starts having orphan brands in its own portfolio? Is that a concern at all?

  • Lowe's Posts A Solid Fourth Quarter Due To Sandy [View article]
Thanks for the article. Who do you think will perform better in 2013, Lowe's or Home Depot? Both companies will benefit from the repairs after Sandy but the underlying strengths are more important if you invest for the long term.
