  • Palm: Is the End Near? [View article]
Dilution is good for money-loser PALM. It will make their perpetual losses seem much smaller -- on a per share basis. And all this new equity is to fund Working Capital! I agree with the author 100%.

  • Three Strikes from Apple and Palm May Be Out [View article]
I came to the same conclusion a month ago, after the share price had tripled -- huge success already baked in.
If it spikes around the launch date, I have funds ready to short more.

  • Will Dell Buy Palm? [View article]
If Dell wants to buy Palm, why not wait 6 months and pay one-third today's price.

Better yet, Dell could save a billion and hire Rubinstein after the smoke clears.

  • Amazon: 300,000 Kindle 2s Sold, Up to 1 Million Expected in 2009 [View article]
??? "Our sources on Kindle sales have proven extremely reliable in the past. Last August we nailed the number of Kindle 1 devices sold at that time"

According to who? -- Not Amazon! They have never released any numbers. Someone else made a guess that is the same as your guess and you claim you "nailed" it.

  • Why I Remain Short Amazon  [View article]
Using my dumb money metric and the unanimous dissent voiced here -- I believe the author is correct.

It is overvalued in spite of the fact that earnings and revenues are growing.

The same comments above, would undoubtedly have been made, even if the share price had jumped to $100 or $200.

  • Amazon, Apple Shine in Otherwise Down E-Holiday Season [View article]
Amazon didn't claim to have a great Christmas -- they said unit sales were higher than last year on the busiest day. You are the one who said they had a great christmas. I think you are going to be surprised and disappointed in three weeks when they announce single-digit revenue growth.

  • Amazon's Holiday Season Results Still Inconclusive [View article]
My take -- The "news" release was subjective and meaningless. You fail to consider that five fewer shopping days, 27 vs 32, or 16% fewer than in 2007's holiday season would naturally generate more sales per day.

The fact that Amazon's "busiest day" unit sales were only up 17% in a compressed season is bearish -- not inconclusive!

  • Amazon, At Least, Had a Merry Christmas [View article]
Amazon's press release is full of useless, subjective information. For you to buy into this type of non-financial hype is comical. This is exactly what the firm wants you to do.

You do realize they'd release the same"news" if their sales were up 1%, don't you?

You clearly haven't followed Amazon for verr long.

  • Palm Dances Around Pre Sales Figures [View article]
Great analysis. These shares are "iphone-killer" priced -- clearly not going to happen. They're just another player on an increasingly crowded field on smartphone players. Motorola and others planning more product launches. Shares going back to $10 by end-of-year.

  • Amazon: No Major Threat from Target's New E-Commerce Initiative [View article]
Holy Cow - These analysts have lost all credibility ... pumping a bloated stock like Amazon while its biggest customer decides to become a competitor.

  • Amazon: Isn't Adding Taxes Bad During a Recession? [View article]
    Good for North Carolina!

This author doesn't have a firm grasp of the facts. This is not a new tax, or an "additional" tax. Use tax is a tax due on purchases made outside of North Carolina for storage, use, or consumption in North Carolina. The use tax is paid to the N. C. Department of Revenue by the purchaser when the North Carolina tax has not been collected by the seller. Use tax is not a new tax. It was first enacted in 1939.

Why describe this as a scheme?
Isn't that the word democrats use instead of "policy" or "plan" when they want to make a proposal sound nefarious?

  • Will Kindle Success Come at Amazon's Expense?  [View article]
The author seems to think Kindle success is inevitable. As far as I know, there are no metrics available relating to is sales or profitability. Amazon is very adept at spinning and hyping its products and services but delivers very little, figuratively speaking. I have never seen a Kindle and have no interest in using one. I question its success, both past and future.

  • Amazon: An 'Unmatched Online Marketplace' - JP Morgan [View article]
January 2, 2008 (One Year Ago) JPMorgan’s Internet analyst Imran Khan and his team released a massive 312-page report this morning titled Nothing But Net that paints a bullish picture for the major Internet stocks (Google, Amazon, Yahoo, eBay, Expedia, Salesforce.com, Ominiture, ValueClick, Monster.com, Orbitz, Priceline, CNET, etc.)

How'd that come out, Imran -- Especially YHOO?

  • Amazon: Sacrificing Margin for Sales [View article]
Good Analysis -- although I doubt the dollar's rally will continue in light of the trillion dollar taxpayer bailout.
