  • Markets Are 'Free Fallin' [View article]
At the current pace of decline, in another 8 weeks or so, gold will be trading for zero. I think I'll put in a stinker bid at $1 per ounce and see if I get filled.

  • Geologist: In Terms of Supply and Demand, the Oil Peak Is Past [View article]
    galewhitaker,

Scuss me, but I consider myself a conservative as opposed to a (hypocritical) "progressive socialist" - and I am a big promoter of Peak Oil theory.

I suppose the conservative lable is confusing. You can use it to describe the Bush types. In my case I belief we should be conserving and living much more modestly. Must like what James Kunstler talks about.

Hopefully, that removes me from being in the evil grouping.

    Paul and Shark,

Gold will remain a currency and survive as a storehouse of value as it has done for centuries. If anything - it is the U.S. fiat currency that will not.

    IMHO

Why focus exclusively on the supply side. Do that - but tend to the demand side too.

Large communtes to monster homes driving moster vehicles might be a good place to start. The current model is obsolete and on its way out. The only question is how painful the transition will be.

  • Crude Oil Prices: Bears Will Soon Win Out [View article]
Everyone should definitely go "on strike" to the best of their ability and stop driving as much as possible for a month and see what happens.

Just imagine if enough people did that.

Consumers in the driver's seat for a change...(excuss the pun).

Why do I still see all sorts of single occupant gigantic SUVs out there? Don't these people realizing they are hogging way more than their share.

5% or the population of the planet is consuming 25% of the crude oil that is produced.
