Go Against The Grain On Hewlett-Packard [View article]
Love to agree to disagree. It makes the world (at least the stock market) go round. It is against the grain in that HP was up the day before and had, in fact, had a good week. I base the call on recent stock movement, not long-term sentiment. Best, Marek
I base my calls on short-term price movement. It's against the grain of prevailing market thought--and the stock was up on Friday and, indeed, had a strong week last week. Best Wishes, Marek
All The News That's Fit To Misinterpret [View article]
I don't think people are reading less. In fact, probably more. Or, at least, more widely. And from sources online that can't charge much at all for advertising. Best, Marek.

Thanks--and you bring up an interesting point: is fanatical nature good in such situations. As I see it--it may help you stick with it for the long-haul, but fanaticism requires emotion and emotion is the ultimate enemy in stock picking. Best, Marek
Amazon Shares Up On eBay's Reflected Glory: Good Or Bad? [View article]
Sure: but it's only been recently that people have realized that eBay has its footing. We'll see on whether the pie is expanding to allow for all the new competition or Amazon, which has margin issues aplenty, will suffer more. That's why I say in this case: rather than chase the stock, wait until Wednesday. Should hold answers. Best, Marek
Even assuming the cars are better and cheaper, there does, looking at the long-term numbers, seems to be a generation-long refusal to "realize." Maybe it's cultural, maybe before the end-of-time, it can be surmounted. But it definitely doesn't appear to be a function of 1) the Euro crisis or 2) any single GM official. Best, Marek
Look: GM is not without a strength or two. But if you handed me $50 billion, I could probably turn in a decent year. Also: on the "sold more vehicles" item--well, the push to "crush everything in its path" in terms of sales, led to a ruinous level of losses. Moreover, my point is Europe, where GM has promised and promised....and never delivered. Best Wishes, Marek

Well, you can't really have one without the other. If you clean the old guard, you can't keep McDonald. But unless you jettison McDonald, you won't have anyone willing to get rid of the old guys. Best, Marek
