  • Not Loving McDonald's [View article]
Hello All and thank you for your comments.
I went back to Morningstar which I usually use as my source and agree with you. Morningstar in their "valuation" tab have the yield as looking back over the last 12 months (at 2.9%) but on their front page actually use the forward view of 3.2%.
In any case I think we all seem to agree that MCD's dividend is pretty good.
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • Does Higher Dividend Payout = Higher Earnings Growth? [View article]
    Hello Timothy,
I completely agree with you. I usually use a Debt/Equity ratio of <1.0x for my own stock reviews...which led me to the same conclusions on CL and CLX vs. JNJ and PG.
    Cheers,
    Ben

  • What Are the Best U.S.-Listed Dividend Plays? [View article]
Adding on to the conversation on RPM, it seems to me that their returns haven't been that great either with 3-year average ROE at 10% and ROA at 6%, both of which seem fairly low for me.
    Happy holidays!

  • Pre-Paid Legal Services Review: Worth a Deeper Look [View article]
    Hello James, Tom and Bovice,
My stock analysis (which I use as a screener before doing a more thorough analysis - e.g. the GD analysis I posted previously) is only based on a review of financials using Morningstar. On that basis alone, PPD seemed fine...but as I read through your comments it is clear that PPD is more than "fishy".
Thank you very much for the red flags - I'll drop PPD from my list!
    Have a good weekend,
    Ben

  • Wal-Mart Valuation: A Great Business, But Not an 'Everyday Low Price' [View article]
    Hello Madmilker,
Could we say by any chance that WMT was expensive then? Do you have any of the metrics as of Jan 1 to compare by any chance?
    Cheers,

    Hello Tweedn,
Thank you for your comment. I agree with you and while the market takes its time to correct that undervaluation investors make a decent yield and buybacks + solid underlying growth which make the business more valuable!

Not something to look forward to...but I'd rather not be anywhere close when that happens.
    What are your favorites?

  • Sysco Stock Review: Not So Tasty [View article]
    Hello Rich Joy,
Indeed, it'd be great to see a bit of weakness so that we can have a good entry/accumulation price.
    Thank you for your comment,

  • Why I Bought Fairfax Financial [View article]
Agreed that I may not sell if the P/BV expands but in order to get an entry point with a margin of safety I prefer buying at 1.0x.

    Hello Philip,
It seems to me that WMT has been repurchasing about 2% of shares a year for the last 5 years. Is that also what you have?
    Have a good weekend,

    Thanks!
I have done an analysis of JNJ (available on my site) and I agree - really like them! I've given a quick look at BDX and will look deeper into them as they seemed quite attractive.
    Cheers,
    Ben
