Mark Bern » Profile

Upon returning from my second tour in Vietnam in 1972, I attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to obtain a degree in economics. I received my MBA from George Washington University with a concentration in MIS. I spent several years in transportation ending up in Stevens Point, Wisconsin as a terminal manager for Roadway Express. Moving to Austin, Texas in 1982 I began a short career in real estate before joining the Postal Service. I spent my final 13 out of 22 years of government service in Washington, D.C. at headquarters for the Postal Service working primarily as an accountant or financial analyst. After retiring in 2001, I consulted for federal agencies for a few years until I founded Shenandoah Financial, Inc. with a friend in August 2005. We have been profitably investing in real estate ever since. I currently live with my wife and two children on one of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia near Charlottesville.
