    Mole - A very timely article! A good summary of some of the market jitters.

    I wonder if a correction will be "orchestrated" as smoothly as the run-up in stocks. As the market seems to be getting a bit top heavy and perhaps enough retail and fund managers have reentered, GS may have been able to take its profits out and start repositioning for the fall. Oh, of course I'm just kidding. The big banks would never even consider manipulating the market for profits. They are too altruistic! Right?

    "Russia has this morning announced that it is to put up taxes on beer by 50% a year until 2012, taking the tax from 3 roubles (EUR 0.1) a litre to 10 roubles (EUR 0.33) a litre."

    From 3 roubles to 10 roubles is more than 50%. They must mean that tax revenue is expected to rise by 50%. In which case, they mean that they expect sales to be cut in half, or there abouts.
