Markman Advisors specializes in the strategic analysis of investment opportunities presented by intellectual property—and in particular, patent—litigation activities. We are all USPTO-registered patent attorneys with decades of combined experience in patent litigation, licensing and procurement. After many years practicing at some of the world’s largest and well-known law firms, we established and now run a premier intellectual-property boutique law firm, where we continue to practice patent litigation. We have litigated numerous high-stakes patent cases in federal district courts throughout the country, as well as at the appellate level before the Federal Circuit. We are also experienced in USPTO proceedings, and have advised clients across a wide swath of technical areas with respect to patent-related matters. Our base of former and current legal clients is diverse, from technology start-ups to some of the world’s largest and most well-known corporations. Collectively, we have led those clients through numerous Markman hearings, summary judgment motions, trials and appeals – on both the offensive and defensive sides of a case. Our patent litigation experience, coupled with our knowledge of the market for "patent play" stocks, is the alpha we bring to each patent litigation-driven investment opportunity.
Investor with 10 years experience in the investment management community. My interests are mainly around innovation and technological disruption, but I allow myself to look into situations in other sectors.
Born and raised in the USA, graduated with a degree in Finance then worked at a multi-strategy global hedge fund for about 4 years analyzing stocks all over the world. In 2007 I left the USA and moved to China to study Chinese and start a business. Now, I am the CEO and Co-founder of eFin which provides wall street level research to main street investors via a proprietary algorithm. Our eFin scoe that takes into consideration hundreds of factors to provide the best period of time to make an investment in a stock.
Nevertheless, my experience working at the hedge fund and running my own business has improved vastly my investment making decisions. I believe Warren Buffett said it best “I am a better investor because I am a businessman and a better businessman because I am an investor”. I have had my share of busts and winners and have gotten wise enough to always look at both sides of every investment no matter how negative or optimistic the situation is.
I am an engineer that got early retirement in 2011 at age of 50. Then, I decided to radically change my life (no manager, no team, no subordinates, no suits, no flights…) and take full control of it (...well...or whatever my wife allows me). Now I am dedicated to horses and investing.
Although I am in EU, I invest mainly in US stocks focused in dividends and growth including MLPs, REITs and ETFs (for markets difficult to reach). I look for solid markets, growing demand and good leadership. Usually I keep around 30 assets in my portfolio.
