Not print more money, it is already out there. Thinking along the lines of getting the economy rolling so that the velocity picks up.

Yes technically it is a tax raise, but all the proposals are tax raises with the revenue offsets...but it depends on what level those are phased out at as well...We are getting off track and getting into politics, but from an economic and business perspective it just seemed as though Romney was in the know. He did have good points on Dodd-Frank as well.

There is no argument being made here. Shorts were forced to cover which forced shares up and it was because some investors did become bullish on the outlook...did that not happen or am I missing something?

Yea, especially when you can get your machines' bad trades cancelled but not your trades made by real traders...strange world we live in!

The stock is still in the retirement portfolio so it is not like anything changed. We are still long and even said "short-term pains could lead to long-term gains." If we sold the shares they would be out of the disclosure form. No personal regrets, just that we switched sides of the trade too early for readers.

Yea falling knives wasn't in there, but that is one of the trading rules to live by - which was broken here. Sept 25th's article talked about sideways trading until new blood brought on board, so that is the level we thought shares would hang around...thus the disappointment. It'd be best that the company takes all the time it needs in order to get the right hire, so wait we shall...but short-term losses of that magnitude are always disappointing.

No instant rebound was expected, but when you have those brief 'flush outs' during the day with recoveries following those new lows, they sometimes turn out to be capitulations. I think the fact we are regretful that it was a bad call (20% in a week or so) is a good thing and just demonstrates we try to give our best ideas to readers.

And the comment on bottom was in general terms, meaning we did not imagine we would be revisiting the lows...guess that is the word you would prefer was used.

Really like the information there Spokanimal, just out of curiousity have you looked into Towerstream (TWER) at all? Another play on offloading data hogs from your valuable cell spectrum and onto local wireless networks. They have a presence in these areas lacking sufficient capacity on the networks.

The comments were that in hindsight it was a bad decision breaking all our rules. Believe we said at the time catching falling knives is never a good idea, but we thought the bottom was in...it is a long-term play and in the retirement account, but we always regret going bullish on stocks that do not pan out (for us, but more so for our readers).

Our first big bucks were made in oil and Canadian oil companies with international exposure. Heavy oil is pretty boring and can lead to just as much risk on the financial side as shale plays. You have cheaper wells, but less production and have to work on a larger scale...good projects the ROI is very good. If you want heavy oil, go with BlackPearl Resources, the Lundin family was behind them and they have a few good projects. They will need money in the future, so pay attention there, but the Lundin family will probably get the company to sell properties rather than dilute their holdings. Just my opinion there.

All about where you put your priorities...US wants batteries, not fossil fuels of any type. It is sad really.

Just noticed that your comment was posted at just about the same time as the article from Forbes saying that Seagate was not interested anymore. That is perfect timing almost to the minute! Good call in hindsight.

That may be true, but the point is the technology is now here for merchants to significantly cut costs. If Square does not work out, someone else will fill that void. It is less about us being bullish on Square and more about us being bearish of PAY. Businesses are looking to cut costs anyway possible and cutting the cost of hardware and services are two areas we know clients are looking to cut the hardest. It is the reality when the top line growth stalls and one is forced to cut expenses in order to push the bottom line higher.

I think you misunderstand, that was the consensus or what was expected and the actual number that came out was lower - these are written before the market open in order to give our readers the data points to use as reference. Those were the numbers to watch for and anything under would obviously be bad.

And the US consumer is going to be what drives the profits here in the US and pushes up the economic activity in China which then gives their speculators and businessmen with various export activities the millions to then go spend money in Macau. Growth there slowed when the financial crisis hit and China's GDP growth slowed as well, and that is greatly impacted by exports to both the EU and US. So why would US consumers not have any impact? I guarantee you that if the US consumer comes back that we will see gaming revenues move higher at LVS here in the US and in China. Just watch.
