  • Today's Market: Cable Wars Heating Up [View article]
There was a court ruling that got rid of the 30% rule on one end according to CNBC's David Faber, but that they would still face issues from other government bodies. Later in the day rumors of a joint bid from Comcast and Charter were swirling and that seems rather logical when you think about it. Allows for ease of closing a deal and not having to worry about antitrust issues and the like.

Understood. The point is that the E&P plays that had a lot of dry natural gas exposure and those diversifying away from it see a lot of the same risk-on trade momentum and breakdowns. It is used as an indicator for our purposes.

No you are correct, it is raised to $3.00, short of the $4.00/share Icahn initially wanted. Typo on my part when I was trying to get everything together this morning.

  • Today's Market: What Momentum Stocks To Play Ahead Of Twitter IPO [View article]
I think that it becomes more and more like AOL in the early years when it was not just a website, but a network...look for FB to get more complicated and complex and I imagine that they will allow in the future their news feed to be searched by the user with various tabs at the top (say for news, college friends, hs friends, professional network) so that they can stay relevant among different categories and to all users. I just have a feeling that the added complexities are coming down the pipeline.

  • Today's Market: Black Monday For BlackBerry Shareholders [View article]
Someone was willing to pay a few billion for Palm right? And I guess that suggested underlying value...but how did that turn out? Markets generally are not wrong, and it seems that they have Blackberry figured out.

Thanks for the added color. Yea the whole new suite of Windows products is quite different. We played with some of their tablets and computers/laptops with W8 and although it worked great for tablets (once you got the hang of it) too many were confused with the laptops and having to touch the screen or not touch it when there was a mouse! Needless to say W8 was put on the sidelines for the time being. I missed my Blackberry at first when the switch was made a year or so ago, but now love the touch screen and not having to play with the pad.

Thanks for the comment, I have heard many others say how much they would hate having to move to the Windows phone and that Android scares many with the ease it can be hacked (per reports from their tech depts). Thoughts on moving from Blackberry to Windows?

Haha! I used to be bearish, always bearish as it pertained to the banks and the downward spiral they were in. One always has to keep an eye out and hope that they can diagnose their condition being an impediment to their investing before it becomes too big of a problem.

Nice one Shoemouse...but to attract investors shouldn't they offer a buy one get TWO for free? Or even better THREE for free? :)

That recapitalizing (or decapitalizing) wouldn't work in this instance. Outside money has to come in to do this right in my opinion.

Based on the spread the market is telling you it is not a believer. The fact that they keep searching for other deals which are far more complex than a simple one purchaser agreement indicates they have issues and management has no credibility after doing all of this.

Various outlets I am sure you would say have well researched articles and commentary have reported that they are still trying to line up financing...maybe there has been more research done than you realize?

  • Today's Market: News Impacting These Names, Possible Deal Over The Weekend? [View article]
I doubt it. In my opinion the company is a head scratcher. Outside the user base it seems it would be an easy service to duplicate, especially through an app on iPhones and Android. If Zillow wanted to add services like those, they would probably do so via an advertising model like Yelp with user interaction.
