  • ETFs With a 50% Correlation To the VIX [View article]
If you want some kind of hedge for volatility through a long-only ETF strategy, here's your list. If you want to fit this into a pre-existing allocation strategy or want to actually hold more than one of these assets, pick ones that have a low correlation with each other.

If you have other questions, feel free to ask. Your favorite search engine is also a great resource if you're ever confused about something.

  • Preparing for a ‘Volatility Shock’ [View article]
Any bets on who'll be the first to come out with a volatility ETF? Hold a large MM position and a small percentage of volatility spreads on the S&P. This is certainly a common enough technique that someone should be able to construct a decent replicating strategy with some guaranteed beta to the VIX. If this volatility shock talk keeps up maybe we'll see one by the end of the year, especially given what this last market run has done to some people's nerves.
