Narrowed it down to Cheniere Energy (LNG), Midway Gold (MDW), Basic Energy Services (BAS), and Excel Maritime (EXM). What do you think?

    • TruffelPig: That is all you holding? A bit narrow.
      10/28/11
    • golfitobob: MB, yes, what are you holding > Very curious
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Me?
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: >25 positions
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: AAPL, AMZN, GLP, KAI, TTMI, ERF, EEP, ECYT, EXEL, TNK, TGP, CQP, GERN, SDRL, GLD, SZYM, WIN, CGNX, IIVI, UAN, RES, BIP, some options
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: sold all my European stocks including (sniff.....) TOT
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: TruffelPig: No, those are my new buy list. I list my holdings (AG, JVA, TNH, REDF, MCPIQ, SSN, and YRCW) in my profile.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: I don't believe in having greater than 25 stocks. Add to transaction costs. Warren Buffett says pick your best stock picks.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: A few quality stocks is better than a basket of stocks. Plus, a basket of stocks is exactly what mutual funds are.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Hey, pretty speculative! I was holding SSN but sold with mucho gain.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: I was looking at REDF and TNH. Got AMZN and UAN instead but still eyeing REDF.
      10/28/11
    • golfitobob: Me SPXU an cash
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: BAS had a good run - have a look at RES, still a bit cheaper and essentially very good as well. Maybe bought.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: I like LNG carriers better than yer shipping, TGP I got to go with my LNG play CQP.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: I like that RES has operations in China. Energy demand there should continue to grow. Chart looks better than BAS.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: BAS is coming though and has big upside still. That stock can go >30 easily.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: I held it but sold because I had too much drilling (SDRL, RES, BAS)
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: SDRL is a dividend play like UAN or TNH. I would keep BAS and RES and sell SDRL.
      10/28/11
    • Jason Yi: LNG is money. Buy on dips, should be trading above $20 sooner or later
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: MB: I will never sell SDRL - love it :)
      10/28/11
    • Clayton Rulli: just buy NFLX and call it a day :-)
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Woot. I lost some money on NFLX - don't remind me.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: SDRL is a great investment. It is just similar to UAN and TNH in the sense that it is mainly an income play. Keeping BAS may yield more.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Maybe, but SDRL is also super growth - the best of all worlds.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: A substantial amount of my stocks is dividend yielders - because of my age I play 50% safe. You are 15 years younger I think.
      10/28/11
    • golfitobob: TP when the FED shaves10%/year off dollar what r divivdends truely worth. And with DOW flat 4 10 years it's a no win ! LAND GOLD & pura vida
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Bob: true, but I also trade. The divi stocks provide some safety. DJI flat doesn't matter if you pick winners.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Can't expect much when sticking money into XOM but multibagger possible in biotech - e.g., EXEL, ARIA, ECYT
      10/28/11
    • golfitobob: " IF " If the queen had balls she be king. Most can't pick and lie.but, a few can. I read all your posts ! lol
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Well, there are better pickers. Michael here is pretty good in it. He also doesn't lie btw.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: @MB: I go with LNG I think for an investment even though they just doubled in like 2 days - lol. Stay away from dry bulk.....still bad.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: @MB If shipping I think I would go LNG (TGP) because of the 14% Asian growth in LNG demand.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: They will ship LNG from US to Asia in the end. That is why I got the CQP which is basically LNG as partnership.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: CP follows LNG like a Tanker - slowly but surely - up.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: TP: Most of the deal explains LNG's price rise over the last five days. I got an 86% rise in the share price, which is about where it is now
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: TGP is another dividend play like SDRL. Natural gas stocks should rise as oil companies seem to continue buying into the sector.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: Cheniere Energy Partners (CQP) also gives a great dividend. Could be used as a hedge for LNG.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) is a more diversified transport stock that hauls many commodities. I like the chart though UNP looks better.

      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Good idea, do you think one should start writing puts on LNG and eventually get in on a pull back?
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: TP: And yup, I am probably 15-20 years younger. So I take a lot more risk.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: TP: You could make good income writing puts on LNG since I doubt they will go down much. Just make sure to make the strike price low enough.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: The Dec 11 puts pay like 1.15 - would be a 9.75 entry. Not too bad. Or nice gain ;P.
      10/28/11
    • Michael Bryant: TP: You could do that. Don't think LNG will fall though. The contract guarantees $400 million/year.
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: Thank you Michael, always a pleasure!
      10/28/11
    • TruffelPig: I get myself a small position and some more puts.
