KKR bought Samson Investment, which owns properties in North Dakota's Bakken, for $7.2 billion. Samson Oil (SSN) also has acreage there.

    • MoneyWalksStocksTalk: SO KKR bought out SSN am i reading this right or is SSN different than Samson Investment?

    • Michael Stuart: Looks like SSN is different than Samson investment. The buyout target looks like it was private owned "family owned" (from the article)

    • Michael Bryant: SSN (has 5 drill wells in North Dakota Bakken) is apparently not Samson Investment (has 1000 drill wells including some in Bakken).

    • Michael Bryant: I just thought it is interesting that they drill in the same area and have the same "Samson" name. Any relations?

    • Michael Bryant: Note SSN spiked about the same time as the announcement if I am correct.

    • MoneyWalksStocksTalk: damn because im holding a decent amount of SSN looking to sell around 2.05.. hope it can chill there for a min on Monday

    • Stone Fox Capital: SSN is an Australian company not related. Samson is a private company from my backyard in Tulsa. This is old news as well.

    • Michael Bryant: Thanks. And use the price paid for the Bakken assets to determine a price of SSN's assets.

    • MoneyWalksStocksTalk: What'd you get that equaled out to?

    • Ocean Man: Sounds like SSN got the Bakken acres where the rock is stronger than the drill bits.
