"After five years of declining property taxes...Las Vegas declared a state of emergency." See. Cutting taxes doesn't spur the economy.

    • jdub2788: yeah, because they didnt cut SPENDING with the TAX CUTS. Common sense. So rare, it's a friggin super power.

    • jdub2788: It is, however, refreshing to see how little people understand about govt and why they vote morons like Obama in. Romney is no better.

    • weed: The article isn't about tax cuts, it's about declining property values, and public employee salaries and pensions.

    • jdub2788: asset classes are deflating around us, prices on consumables have to follow or the problem is worse.

    • Josh Krause: MB: You have the story all wrong. Declining property taxes in LV has to do with the real estate market imploding, not tax cuts.
      6/22/12
    • Josh Krause: Since the real estate values all got cut in half, the property taxes collected were drastically reduced as well. No tax cut, value lost.

    • Bob de'Long: What about the hydrogen-hydroxide shortage out there.
      6/22/12
    • Josh Krause: I hear it is being running into shortages of dihyrdogen oxide.

    • jdub2788: At least liquor sales stayed consistent. They can make a "temporary" to perm tax on it like they did here in Maryland.
      6/22/12
    • jdub2788: Only, when they made the temporary tax a permanent one, they increased it even more. Nothing like paying for waste.

    • Bob de'Long: Krause, lol, you're way ahread of me. I barely got a B in Chemistry. Trout fishing was an easy A; those were the days

    • Michael Bryant: Bob: "B" is for bodacious.

    • Bob de'Long: Bob: "B" is for bodacious; "O" is for onomatopoeia; "B2" is for Bomber. Onomatopoeia is my word of the day.

    • eabyrd: Of course! How could leaving more money in the hands of the people who earned it spur the economy? Government's always spend wisely!!!
