  • On Friday, four more banks were shuttered, one each in California, Georgia, Idaho and Michigan. Cost to the FDIC will be nearly $700M. Of the four, only First Bank of Beverly Hills (Calif.) has no other bank to assume deposits. American Southern Bank (Ga.) and Michigan Heritage Bank both have other banks not only assuming deposits but purchasing some assets, while U.S. Bank (of Minneapolis) will only assume the deposits of First Bank of Idaho. Number of banks now closed in 2009: 29.

    I was right when I started to question about the "Toxic Assets" issue. We'll now it comes back to haunt these questionable banks in the form of stress tests. Nice try on the earnings.
