  • BlackBerry: The Usual Suspects - Gentlemen, It's Getting Old Already [View article]
The head of research at ITG is an 11 year veteran of Pacific Crest.

And don't paint Bank research team in such positive light, the DB research team certainly don't look like choir boys in my last take down.

  • BYOD: When 800,000 Apps Becomes A Bad Thing [View article]
You always know the best articles on SA come from people who write very few articles....

This article one is clearly one of those and provides us with a fantastic overview of Blackberry's enterprise appeal.

Thank you for your thoughtful and complete overview. A refreshing change from senior SA writers who write perfunctory articles to collect page views.

  • Apple Won't Buy BlackBerry [View article]
    Hi Ahsraf,
I think you are overlooking the most important reason Apple might buy Blackberry:
    QNX.

-Apple OS, though beautiful and functional, is stuck in the past and can NEVER be changed due to its core architecture into a true multitasking OS. If they could, they would have done so already. The reason the OS doesn't handle multitasking 5 years on - its DNA does not allow it.

What Apple has done is use a single tasking OS with excellent data sharing ability to circumvent multitasking to save batteries. Excellent idea 5 years, but now they are stuck and it is a HUGE problem.

Enter QNX, can already run IOS apps through a run time software layer (As exists for Android already on BB10)

This IOS run time, once perfected, would allow Apple upgrade its OS while at the same time running most of its IOS apps on a new platform (QNX based) and hence bridge the gap into

    1.) Multi tasking
2.) MDM (Iphone talks to cars and TVs and Banks etc)

Now, all of sudden this acquisition is not so far fetched is it?

SEC most likely to investigate me at the behest of the shorts at this rate! Hope the news helped the reversal today.

No, they are not paid for apple nor Samsung. They are paid for by short hedge funds.

It is vanity to think Apple or Samsung would bother doing that.

Epic. Should have put his name in the title!

    Nice call out.

The crazy thing, he's giving his shop a tremendously bad name. you would think other partners there would mind that, but I guess not?

  • Here Is How BlackBerry Can Dominate The Smartphone And Tablet Markets [View article]
Off course, I wouldn't expect any shorts to ever bother reading this. No one has there done their due diligence properly on RIMM until they have understood the power of QNX as you have to well pointed out.

This is a fantastic piece. Many thanks for your time.

  • Taking BlackBerry Private Makes No Sense [View article]
Funny, but not mentioning receivables and netting payables against cash is self serving and and obvious. The article loses any credibility on that gaff alone.

  • Did Barron's Just Pull A Forbes On BlackBerry? [View article]
    Thank you ALL:

And thanks to this Gent, it's for investors like him that I write these:

Hi Michael: I am a 66 year semi-retired professional and novice at managing my own investments (with guidance from a professional with BMO-Nesbitt Burns) here in Canada. I have been watching with utter amazement and disgust , the wide range of "opinions and articles" printed without any supporting references or documentation etc. I am trained in the scientific approach to things, work as a consultant and expert witness in the courts and would get hammered and lose my credibility and hence livelihood if I said such unsubstantiated views and learned not to make a public statement without being able to back it up.

My brief exposure to what is going on in the "investment" world is helping me to realize how we investors have been manipulated for so long by so many greedy people. I have read a number of your articles and want to let you know how much I appreciate you taking on the role of "Robin Hood - Robin of Lockley?" and helping us less knowledgeable investors. Your experience and confidence to challenge these practices is very reassuring to me and I am sure many others. I find you articles are helping me understand many terms, concepts and practices of the investment world and I thank you for your effort and willingness to take on the establishment and their dishonesty. Regards, Greg XXXX, Canada

  • Why You Should Accumulate Shares Of BlackBerry [View article]
I've never seen a Nokia Lumia out in public. They only exist in stores.

Has anyone ever seen one? We should do a poll, it would be hilarious.

  • BlackBerry's Blunder In India [View article]
Why do I think that the Blackberry country manager would have objected to this pricing if he thought it was unacceptable?

It is also prejudiced to think India is one big slum by using a $1410 figure. There are 1.2 Billion people in India, and yes it is very poor as an average (Chin is $740 for example), but also has a vibrant middle and class, who size is large enough to buy Iphones at $840.

China sells Iphones for close to $1000, please see pricing chart below for Iphone5 world wide that pretty shows you outside of the US, these are $1000 items. (multiply by 1.35 for USD price)

    http://bit.ly/XhjMFw

Also please don't forget that in the UK, the Z10 sells at a premium to the Iphone

  • A BlackBerry - Chinese Company Merger Serves Apple And Maybe Hackers Too [View article]
Both Lenovo 'talk' announcements came when BBRY was at a low share price wise.

The inside baseball here is that Lenovo executives were trading the stock in HK.

    Funny but believable.

They know they can never buy it, so why did say it?

  • BlackBerry (BBRY +8.3%) has received an order for 1M BB10 phones from one of its "established partners" (exactly whom remains a mystery). The announcement has sent shares flying higher over the final hour of trading. Also: Verizon (VZ) says it will begin selling the Z10 on March 28, and will start taking pre-orders tomorrow. As was rumored, the carrier will have exclusive access to a white version of the device. [View news story]
